Team England hanya berjaya menjadi juara sebanyak sekali(1966) dan sampai ke semi final sekali(1996) sepanjang sejarah WC dan Euro.Kedua-dua pencapaian tersebut berlaku hanya ketika team ni jadi tuan rumah.

BEKAS jurulatih kebangsaan Perancis, Raymond Domenech menganggap skuad England tiada harapan untuk menjadi pesaing utama pada Euro 2012, sambil menganggap skuad kendalian Roy Hodgson itu langsung tiada kualiti.
Pengendali berusia 60 tahun itu yang dipecat selepas kegagalan memalukan Perancis pada Piala Dunia 2010 mendakwa, Perancis akan mudah menewaskan England pada aksi sulung kumpulan, 11 Jun ini.
“Saya menjadikan Perancis sebagai salah satu pasukan pilihan kali ini. Mereka akan menghadapi perlawanan pertama yang mudah iaitu bertemu England, pasukan tiada kualiti,” kata Domenech dalam nada angkuh.
Tidak cukup itu, pemain pertahanan Norway, Brede Hangeland pula meramalkan England bakal tewas perlawanan kedua mereka kepada Sweden disebabkan keletihan para pemainnya.
Pemain Fulham itu percaya, para pemain England bakal menghadapi kesukaran untuk mencapai prestasi terbaik di Euro 2012 selepas mereka mengharungi musim sukar Liga Perdana Inggeris.
“Sweden memiliki peluang terbaik. Memang ia barisan terbaik England tetapi mereka tampak sedikit bermasalah selepas pemain mengharungi musim yang panjang.
“Ia bukanlah persiapan terbaik menjelang Euro apabila pemain terpaksa beraksi musim sukar bersama kelab masing-masing.
“Biarpun hanya pada aksi persahabatan pemanas badan, kamu boleh nampak yang para pemain England memerlukan rehat,” ujar Hangeland. – Agensi |

Barry ruled out of England's Euro 2012 campaign
Everton defender Phil Jagielka is named by Roy Hodgson as the replacement for the Manchester City midfielder after a scan revealed the true extent of his stomach injury.
England midfielder Gareth Barry has been ruled out of Euro 2012 with a lower abdomen muscle tear.
Concerns were raised when the 31-year-old Manchester City player managed less than 30 minutes in the friendly against Norway on Saturday, and it has now been confirmed that he will miss the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
Barry, who won his 53rd international cap as a half-time substitute during the 1-0 victory in Oslo, will be replaced in England's 23-man squad by Everton defender Phil Jagielka.
"I’m very disappointed to lose Gareth," said manager Roy Hodgson said in a statement on the Football Association's official website.
"Not only was he a member of my original 23-man squad but he has featured prominently in the England team over the last few years.
"I know how much he wanted to be part of the tournament but I’m sure he will still have a part to play with England after the Euros. I wish him a speedy recovery.” |

Lampard ruled out of Euro 2012
Frank Lampard has been ruled out of England's Euro 2012 campaign.
The Chelsea midfielder suffered a thigh injury in training yesterday [Wednesday] and went for a scan this afternoon [Thursday] to discover the extent of the damage.
However, Lampard and manager Roy Hodgson were preparing for the worst and the Football Association have now confirmed the player, who will be 34 next month, will not be part of England's 23-man squad.
It is devastating news for England, who have already had to deal with the loss of one midfielder, Manchester City's Gareth Barry who suffered a stomach injury in Saturday's friendly win over Norway.
And for Lampard, it potentially spells the end of his entire England career, with Hodgson expected to offer the younger midfielders a chance to prove themselves during next autumn's World Cup qualifying programme.
Jordan Henderson will be called into the England squad providing Hodgson gets the green light from UEFA, which should be automatic as Lampard has suffered a fresh injury after Tuesday's deadline.
What makes this latest twist even more galling is that Lampard was only in his second day of training, having joined the Three Lions party late after winning the Champions League with his club, in Munich, on May 19.
Hodgson said: "It's a huge blow for the team, especially coming after the loss of another senior player in Gareth Barry.
"The fact that the doctor cannot guarantee Frank could take part in any of the group matches means we have to replace him in the central midfield area.
"Apart from it being a huge blow to me and the team, I'm especially disappointed for Frank himself.
"He has been in very good form and was looking forward to the tournament.
"He made a huge contribution towards us qualifying for the Euros so it is cruel to be forced out through injury just before the tournament." |
