Roma coach Spalletti fed-up with Mancini moaning
tribalfooball.com - December 11, 2007
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has hinted he is frustrated by Amantino Mancini's moaning.
"We know his ability and we know he can do a lot more," said Spalletti. "There are times when this can happen to a player, but we have a lot of confidence in this guy. "His face is always sad? He must be mindful of his expressions. What counts is the contribution he makes to the team, not the minutes he plays." |

Torino 3-1 Roma
Alvaro Recoba was the star of the show, scoring two superb goals as Torino defeated Roma 3-1 in Turin.
The Uruguayan hitman signalled his intent right from the start with a curling shot after two minutes that was saved by Gianluca Curci. He then broke the deadlock on 13 minutes with a vicious low shot from 30 yards.
Roma started to improve and they drew level in first-half injury time as Amantino Mancini hit an angled drive past Alberto Fontana.
However this was the Recoba show and he put the Granata back into the lead on 51 minutes, hitting a powerful shot into the roof of the net. The 31-year-old almost scored a third soon after but he was denied by Curci.
Roma poured forward for an equaliser and Daniele De Rossi was inches away with a header. Just two minutes from time Torino scored what could prove to be a crucial third as Gianluca Comotto headed home a Vincenzo Grella cross.
Simone Perrotta could have pulled one back in stoppages but he was denied by a fine Fontana save. The second-leg in Rome takes place in January. |

Real Madrid, Juventus join battle for Roma's Mancini
tribalfootball.com - January 11, 2008
The race for Roma wing dazzler Amantino Mancini is heating up.
Corriere dello Sport says Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan have joined the battle for the Brazilian, who has all but accepted his future now lies away from the capital. Olympique Lyon and Manchester City have confirmed their interest, however Juve president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has also made contact this week. Claudio Ranieri, the Juventus coach, sees Mancini as an ideal successor for veteran Pavel Nedved. Inter, meanwhile, see Mancini as a direct replacement for veteran Luis Figo. Real coach Bernd Schuster has also instructed his board to compete for the Brazilian, admitting: "We need to improve our wing play." Gilmar Veloz, Mancini's agent, is in Rome this week for crunch talks with directors over his client's future. |

Roma chief Prade targets three attacking signings
tribalfootball.com - January 11, 2008
Roma have three attacking targets lined up for next season.
Corriere dello Sport says top of Roma sports chief Daniele Prade's shopping list is Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu. Fiorentina would be reluctant sellers, however, which would lead Prade to opening talks with Udinese for Antonio Di Natale. Also in Roma's sights is Real Madrid's attacking midfielder Julio Baptista. |

Roma Will Be Champions - Totti
Francesco Totti, perhaps boosted by Inter's slight dip in form, has reiterated Roma's Scudetto ambitions.
Roma captain Francesco Totti reiterated that he still believes his side have what it takes to wrestle the Scudetto away from Inter.
"Roma will win the Scudetto, while Inter will only finish second," Er Pupone proclaimed. He also said he felt the race for the title now involves just two teams: "I think that for the Scudetto it's a two-horse race between Roma and Inter, with all respect to other teams."
The Giallorossi's number 10 could not avoid talking about the serious pre-match incidents before Roma-Catania on last Sunday, with three Sicilian fans being stabbed.
"Whoever behaves like that doesn't deserve to be called a fan," Totti continued, "independently of who they support. A match should be a peaceful event.
"Teasing and making jokes aimed at other teams is nice, I love that kind of stuff, but violence is something else, it's an absurd and negative phenomenon." |

Serie A Week 25 - 27/2/08 (19.30 UK)

Inter - Roma

Stadio Meazza

Roma抯 hopes of getting back into the Scudetto race rest on their pivotal Week 25 trip to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when they take on leaders Inter. Nine points is the current gap between the sides, but the Nerazzurri machine has shown signs of being human after all in recent weeks, giving the capital club a glimmer of hope.
Things were going swimmingly for Mancio抯 boys just a week ago, but a disappointing defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League looks to have knocked the stuffing out of them. Aside from the manner of the loss, they will also be without Ivan Cordoba for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic抯 public condemnation of Marco Materazzi抯 red card has seemingly caused a rift in the Inter camp.
Nonetheless, they are still in good shape to make it three Scudetti in a row, despite slipping to a disappointing draw with Sampdoria last time out. Nelson Rivas could be a potential weak link at the back if he starts |

Bronzetti: Roma Should Be Wary Of Ref Not Real Madrid
Ernesto Bronzetti, one of football抯 most well known agents, believes that Roma need to be wary of the referee and not Real Madrid when the two sides meet at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
Both teams will clash for a place in the quarter finals of the Champions League and the match official will be Kyros Vassaras, a Greek travel agent.
Bronzetti believes that the ref has a habit of favouring teams who play at home.
揑 have seen Vassaras, the only guarantee is that he is an international referee, but affectively he is usually a 慼ome |
