Sia’s Cheap Thrills FINALLY tops Billboard Hot 100 after 23 weeks on chart!
SHE’S FINALLY DONE IT! After a 23-week ascent up the charts, Sia has topped the Billboard Hot 100 with her single, Cheap Thrills.
This week, Sia’s Cheap Thrills featuring Sean Paul has risen from Number 3 to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 to give the singer her first ever Number 1 as an artist.
This is really amazing news for Sia as she’s somehow managed to unseat Drake’s One Dance after a 10-week reign at the top of the charts. An artist as amazing as Sia deserves this number 1, and let’s face it, she’s certainly waited for it.
This is the longest climb to the summit since John Legend’s All Of Metopped the chart in its 30th week on the chart back in May 2014. Cheap Thrills matches the 23-week ascent of Patti Austin’s Baby, Come to Me with James Ingram, which was way back in 1983.
Cheap Thrills was originally intended to be recorded and released by Rihanna for her latest album release, ANTI. But, things works out differently and Sia recorded it for her album, This is Acting, which features songs that were all written by Sia for other artists. It looks like things have worked out well for the singer though.
