Pelancong Australia Dijumpai Selamat Di Taman Negara Mulu

Berita Harian melaporkan, pasukan mencari dan menyelamat akhirnya menjumpai pelancong yang berasal dari Australia, Andrew Gaskel yang dikatakan telah hilang beberapa hari lalu di Taman Negara Mulu.


Menurut jurucakap Bomba dan Penyelamat Miri, ketika diselamatkan mangsa berada dalam keadaan yang agak lemah.

Gaskel telah dibawa ke Hospital Miri menggunakan helikopter untuk pemeriksaan lanjut.- CARI

THE UNCLE OF MISSING AUSSIE TOURIST JOINS IN THE SEARCH

29 Oktober - MULU : Brian Giles, the uncle of Australian tourist Andrew Gaskell, gone missing in Mulu National Park, today joins Search and Rescue Teams in search for his nephew.

Today's search involves 28 SAR members comprising of 8 from bomba, 8 from the police, 2 from Mulu Management and 4 locals from nearby Batu Bungan village.

The teams split into 3 groups with the first group searching the Lagang Cave dan Moon Milk Cave areas, the 2nd group at Stonehorse Cave while the 3rd group will jungle trek to Mulu Summit, 24 km away. The trekking will take 4 days.

Meanwhile, a SAR control center (pos kawalan) manned by bomba, police and park management officers had been set up while the Bomba Air Unit is on standby.

Andrew Gaskell text his friend he was going to the park on 20 October and will return the following day.

His friend lodged a missing person report last Wednesday when Gaskell failed to show up and attempt to contact him failed.

NO SIGHT OF MISSING AUSSIE BY SAR TEAM 1 AND 2

29 oct - MULU : Search and Rescue Teams deploy to search for missing Aussie Andrew Gaskell at their respective designated areas returned to base 'empty handed'

ACcording to Bomba Zon 6 Chief Law Poh Kiong SAR Team 1 returned from their search in Lagang and Moon caves at 1.00 p.m while search in Stonehorse cave by Team 2 was not fruit either and returned to base at 3.30 pm.

Law said meanwhile the victim's uncle Brian Giles who is at the park thanked all the SAR Teams and extra efforts by bomba air unit.

The search continues and all hope is now pinned on team 3 who are on the way to Mulu summit, 4 days jungle trekking away.

The victim's relatives including his father David Andrew Gaskell, 54 and younger brother Benjamin  Keith Gaskell, 24 were among those joining in the search.

VICTIM FOUND IN 'HIDDEN VALLEY'

1 Nov - MULU : Lost victim Andrew James Gaskell, 26, was found by Team SAR 4 consisting of #Bomba (fire n rescue), police and staff of Mulu Management at 1.00 p.m. this afternoon at Hidden Valley, about 5km from Mulu Airport and 20 meter off track in a dense n rocky forest.

Fire and rescue helicopter launch a winching operation at 1.30 pm, bringing the victim to Mulu Airport where he was examined by a medical officer.
Thereafter, he was airlifted to Miri hospital.
