NICE!! GILA MANTAP VALENCIA THIS SEASON...
Real Betis and Spain international winger Joaquin is on his way to Valencia on a bumper six-year contract after a deal was agreed on Thursday.
The exciting wide man has long been targeted by Premiership clubs, mainly Chelsea, but will be parading his skills in La Liga once again next year.
The fee is believed to be in the region of 25 million euros (almost 17 million pounds) and Valencia are flexing their muscles after qualifying for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, where they are one of the top seeds.
Aurelio Sanchez, Joaquin's father, has revealed his son is due to travel to Valencia to finalise personal terms and sign the contract, worth a reputed 1.5 million euros (1 million pounds) per year.
The transfer is expected to be announced at a media conference on Thursday once the 25-year-old player has put the finishing touches to the big-money move. |

Fernando Morientes scored on his league debut for Valencia in a 2-1 win over Real Betis at the Mestalla. The former Real Madrid man thumped home an emphatic right-foot shot to add to his Champions League goal on Tuesday as his new side won the first game of the Spanish Liga season.
Morientes' opener was cancelled out against the run of play by ex-Valencia forward Xisco, but young defender Raul Albiol made sure of victory with a crisp left-footed half-volley just after the hour mark.
Valencia's season is already in full swing after they had to play Red Bull Salzburg over two legs for a place in the Champions League, and they settled more quickly against a Betis side looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2005/06 campaign.
Morientes got his first sight of goal just before the half-hour, volleying wide from a Miguel Angel Angulo corner. He has just five minutes to wait for another chance, and made no mistake from the right side of the box after being teed up by Edu.
The home side's control turned to complacency and they were pegged back eight minutes after the break when the lively Xisco planted an unstoppable header past Santiago Canizares after losing his marker.
Betis were not level long, as the 20-year-old Albiol got forward for a corner and restored the lead with his weaker left foot.
David Villa was La Liga's top scorer last season and enhanced his reputation further at the World Cup, but could not find his way onto the scoresheet against Betis as Toni Doblas produced several world-class saves to deny the Spanish international. |
