Kang Ho Dong Says No To “Running Man” Due To Controversy Over Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook’s Departure

After deliberation, Kang Ho Dong has decided no to be part of “Running Man Season 2.”

Yesterday, in addition to the news of long-time members Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook leaving, there was also news of a new season of the popular SBS variety show with MC Kang Ho Dong in talks to join.

Today, SM C&C – Kang Ho Dong’s management – has announced that the widely loved MC will not be joining, largely due to the controversy with the way Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook were told unilaterally that they would not be part of the new season. SM C&C stated, “We don’t know all the details of the situation, but Kang Ho Dong doesn’t want his casting to cause viewers any discomfort.” It added their apology for causing viewer concern with the casting news.

Kang Gary shuts down Instagram after Running Man controversy with Song Ji Hyo


It was first reported that Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook would be leaving Running Man on December 14th. Shortly afterwards, Gary deleted all the photos on his Instagram. No reasons were given and there have been no statements by his agency.

However, it now seems that it might be connected to the breaking news that Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook were removed from Running Man without being given advance notice. In a report by Koreaboo, we revealed that Song Ji Hyo was only informed she would be removed from the show after media began reporting on it.Gary has also unfollowed everyone on his Instagram account, previously following a total of 145 people. He also had 88 photos uploaded to his account prior to the purge. His last few posts were videos that were uploaded about 5 days ago.

While it may turn out that Gary deleting his Instagram is purely a coincidence, it definitely makes sense Gary is extremely upset at this slight towards his friends. Gary was a long-time cast member of Running Man and is extremely close to both Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook.

His friendship and on-screen relationship with Song Ji Hyo is especially worth noting. The two have been very close to each other with rumors of them dating popping up multiple times throughout their friendship.

Rasanya , Gary pun kena tendang keluar tp secara baik. Mungkin sbb dulu dia pernah nak cakap berhenti Rm masa tahun 2012 tu. Tp x jadi. Lepas tu PD aritu mmg rancang nak tukar ahli klau rating x naik lepas autumn

rasa nak menangis je tgk gambo 3 org tu.sedih bila dlm 7 thun dgn RM kena kick cam tu jer. Ji Hyo tu mmg iols kagum . Yg paling iols x boleh lupa time die bungee jumping kat macau tu.  Kalau mcm kena Suk Jin  kena tendang , x delah terasa sangat.
