Hunan TV's version of "Meteor Garden" to be starting in mid-Feb; changes name to "Meteor Rain"
Afterthe well-received "Chou Nu Wu Di", Hunan TV's version of "MeteorGarden" is finally starting in February. On The State Reprentative ofRadio Film and Television website, reporters saw that Hunan TV's"Meteor Garden" has officially been started, but the name has beenchanged to "Meteor Rain" (流星雨). From a reliable source, reporters foundout that the in the new F4 there will be two "Superboys", including YuHao Ming and Wei Chen. As for the other two boys, they are newcomers.The female lead will be played by an 18 year old newcomer. The new F4has been confirmed to be Yu Hao Ming, Wei Chen, Zhu Zi Xiao and ZhangHan. Yu Hao Ming will be playing the role of Hua Ze Lei (Rui), but inthe new version, the character has been renamed to Duan Mu Lei. WeiChen will be playing the character "Ye Shuo"; originally called "MeiZuo" (Akira), Zhu Zi Xiao will be playing "Xi Men Rui Qian"; originally"Xi Men" (Sojirou) and Dao Ming Si (Domyoji) will be renamed to "YunHai", played by Zhang Han. Of the 4, Zhu Zi Xiao and Xi Men arenewcomers with no experience on screen at all. As for the female lead(Shan Cai), the character will be renamed to Chu Yu Qian, played by an18 year old newcomer. From the cast list report of the show, we can seethat the series is estimated to be 35 episodes. The plot also has somechanges. The relationship story of Xi Men and Xiao You will be omitted,and the setting will be in an aristocrat university. Yu Qian, was ableto study at this university "Ai Li Si Dun Institute" (艾利斯顿学院) with themoney her uncle borrowed. Yun Hai, Duan Mu Lei, Xi Men Rui Qian and YeShuo are the four noble brothers of the institute and are also the hotpopular idols of the girls in the school. These four "young masters"were unhappy with their parents' arrangements for their lives, so theywent to study at Ai Li Si Dun Institue under force. They wanted theprincipal to expell them, so they were always making trouble in school,causing headaches for the principal all the time. Because Yu Qian feltunfair for people, she became F4's target for pranking. From beingcompetitive and admiring one another to becoming friends, F4 were alsoshocked by Yu Qian's strong independence and eventually became theschool\'s 4 outstanding students as well.
Yesterday, thereporters phoned "Tian Yu" company's Miss Wu, who was in charge of theproject "Meteor Rain". She expressed that the "new F4" had the samestandards as the "old F4", "Height must be at least 180 cm and have tobe handsome as well". But she also stated that before the filmingactually starts, there are possibilities of any changes.
Themainland version of "Meteor Garden" is finally starting, reporterswaited outside of Xia Men Airport, welcoming the Mainland F4 to arrive.They were all indeed very tall and handsome. The series will all befilmed in Xia Men; therefore the fans in Xia Men are definitely verylucky!
The new "Metoer Garden" will all be filmed in Xia Men,using the wonderful scenary of Xia Men. Yesterday, the F4 cast arrivedat Xia Men and settled in the Asia Gulf Hotel. At the same time ofrevealing the mysterious F4, the crew also revealed the prologue of thefilm. The mainland version of "Meteor Garden" will be changed to"Meteor Rain" (流星雨), estimating to be 35 episodes. Newcomers playing the main leads

Reporters saw that the originalrumoured cast, Wei Chen, Yu Hao Ming, Wu Zun, Han Geng as the new F4had some changes made. Other than the "Superboys" Wei Chen and Yu HaoMing, the other two are newcomers. However, same as the old F4, the newF4 are all handsome guys that had a height of over 180 cm.
Afterwards,reporters saw that on the tentative script, the other two necomers areZhu Zi Xiao and Zhang Han. Zhang Han is an actor of the new generationand Zhu Zi Xiao is a model. The characters they are playing, Dao MingSi (Domyoji), Xi Men (Sojirou), etc all had their names changed. Theyare: Zhang Han playing Yun Hai (originally Dao Ming Si (Domyoji)), YuHao Ming is playing Duan Mu Lei (originally Hua Ze Lei (Rui)), Zhu ZiXiao is playing Xi Men (originally Xi Men (Sojirou)) and Wei Chen isplaying Ye Shuo (originally Mei Zuo (Akira)).
Reporters also sawthat the actress playing Shan Cai wasn't at Xia Men yet. Apparently,she as going to be the cast's secret weapon, she would be revealed onthe first day of fimling. But reporters found out that Shan Cai wouldbe renamed to Chu Yu Qian. The actress is a 19 year old Year 2 FilmInstitute student, called Zheng Shuang. The reason why thisunexperienced student was strongly noticed, was because her look wasvery fresh and clear, matching the standards of "New Meteor Garden".Even the F4 who are used to seeing beautiful girls had "affection" forher.
Idol Drama became an Inspiration series
Fromthe The State Reprentative of Radio Film and Television, the "NewMeteor Garden"'s changes are quite big. No wonder netizens weresulking. First, the series name has been changed to "Meteor Rain" andF4 and Shan Cai all have new names. Even the plot, which was originallya comedy-romance idol drama became inspirational.
As for thechanges, the producer of the series, Yao Yu Zhu said, the changes weremade to show the characteristics of this drama. He expressed thatthough this was being seen as a new version of "Meteor Garden", but"Meteor Rain" and "Meteor Garden" are only similar, but what the showreally wants to bring is how the young of the 90's are positive andactive towards life.
Therefore the new version of "MeteorGarden" seem to be "uncommon", being called "messy" and "speechless"cannot be stopped. Because the original manga and other versions' plotshave been critcized by others, this caused for the mainland version of"Meteor Garden" to have to make changes.
