Di hospital .... Apabila Margaret sedar dari pengsan dia terus bertanyakan Stephanie. Barulah Diana & Sophia menyedari bahawa mereka telah meninggalkan Stephanie keseorangan di tempat pertandingan ratu cantik.
Apabila tiada sesiapa pun yang datang menjemput Steph, dia berjalan kaki pulang ke rumah dan menunggu bersendirian di luar rumah. Apabila Sophia tiba di rumah, dia memarahi Steph kerana tidak menantinya di dewan pertandingan. Dalam tangisan, Steph meminta maaf kepada ibunya kerana tidak memberitahu daripada awal yang Margie pernah mengalami sakit dada. Sophia menjadi semakin garang dan menuduh Steph menjadi punca Margie jatuh sakit. She kept on scolding her daughter, mentally abusing her saying she's stupid and a burden. Sophia slammed the front door and left Steph outside their house.
Steph cuba mengambil hati ibunya dengan membawa segelas susu. Dia meminta untuk tidur bersama ibunya kerana takut tidur bersendirian memandangkan Margie masih dirawat di hospital. Namun ibunya mengatakan bahawa ketakutan boleh menyebabkan diri seseorang itu gagal dan lemah dan tidak membenarkan Steph bermalam bersama.
Keesokannya, Margie bertambah pulih. Diana menghiburkan hati Margie dengan gelekan tarian "famousnya" itu. Dia meminta ibunya menceritakan sekali lagi kisah cinta antara Diana dengan bapanya. (Margie doesn't now the truth about her existence - a one night stand between Beatriz and Edward). Diana menceritakan sebuah kisah cinta 2 insan bermata sepet ketika dia menjadi tukang masak di sebuah restoran di Hong Kong. Masakannya yang sungguh enak terutamanya Sup Diana menjadi bualan seantero Hong Kong sehingga pada suatu hari datanglah seorang lelaki Cina memesan Sup Diana dan terpegun dengan keenakan masakan itu. Dia mengurat Diana sehingga mereka jatuh cinta. Namun kedua ibubapa lelaki itu tidak merestui hubungan mereka kerana Diana miskin dan telah memisahkan mereka berdua. Tetapi ia sudah terlambat kerana hasil cinta mereka lahirlah seorang bayi perempuan. Bapanya jatuh sakit kerana tidak dapat menikmati Sup Diana. Dan sebelum menghembuskan nafasnya yang terakhir, dia menamakan bayi tersebut Margaret. Margaret bertanyakan kepada ibunya sama ada ibunya masih menyimpan kertas pembalut cokelat pemberian bapanya. Dia mahu dirinya jatuh cinta sepertimana kisah cinta ibu dan bapanya. Diana merasa serba salah dengan kisah rekaannya kepada Margaret.
Diana, Sophia & Stephanie visited Margaret at the hospital. About this time, we could see that Sophia kept putting her daughter Stephanie down, saying that she's not good enough bla bla bla while praising Margaret.
Diana confided in Sophia about Margaret asking about her father. Sophia said that it's best Margaret doesn't find out the truth and to stick to the fantasy story because her condition might worsen.
While Diana was buying traditional medicines for Margie's heart condition, entered a not so bad looking man into the shop. They bumped into each other but Diana was preoccupied to actually notice him, while he seemed smitten with her. Outside the shop, a group of crooks kidnapped Diana while she was leaving. The man tried to stop them but was shoved away (to me, his attempts to rescue Diana macam tak makan seminggu jer).
Steph overheard the phone conversation between Sophia & the kidnappers. They demanded Sophia to pay 1 million ransom or Diana dies.
At the hospital, Margie felt that Steph was keeping something from her. She insisted Steph to tell but Steph was afraid her mum Sophia would get angry. At home, Sophia was busy counting their meagre savings to pay the ransom demand.
After finding out the truth about her mum's kidnapping, Margie & Steph left the hospital. Outside, they staged a show/performance asking for donations. They danced and appealed. Their actions attracted the passing crowd who donated money as well as the media.
Sophia reported Diana's kidnapping to the police (eventhough she was warned by the kidnappers not to do so). While there, Margie's appeal was aired on TV. The kidnappers saw the news coverage and threatened Sophia.
Due to Margie's appeal on TV, donations poured in. Their garment factory received a huge order, while coronary specialists offered to treat Margaret FOC. Finally Sophia managed to have enough money to pay off the ransom demand. While delivering the money to the kidnappers, the police attacked. There was a shootout, kidnappers die, Diana saved.
The kinapping incident drew media attention and Diana & Sophia appeared on a talkshow. Diana's witty answers charmed the audience. Sophia being an opportunist recognized Diana's media appeal. She proposed to the network producers/owners to do a cooking show but her idea was rejected by all the big networks except a small cable network. Initially, Diana was reluctant to go through with Sophia's idea but Sophia managed to manipulate Diana to do the cooking show. When both of them first visited the TV network who agreed to do the cooking show, they mistook the owner, Louie Diaz, as one of the errand boy. (Louie Diaz is THE guy who bumped into Diana at the medicine shop).
During their meeting, Louie couldn't take his eyes off of Diana. Sophia being the producer/Diana's manager handled all the business dealings. First taping of the cooking show, Diana froze. But after an assurance from her daughter and her lines written on a piece of cardboard paper (no teleprompter), Diana turned on her charms. She and the show were a hit. There was a lot of media coverage on Diana & the cooking show. She endorsed cooking products. There were sponsors. She became "Ratu Dapur". The big network realizing their mistake by not signing on Diana ealier offered bigger perks.
One afternoon, Diana visited Louie at his house (I gather they have started to become close as friends but I don't think Diana realized Louie has a gigantic crush on her). He cooked for them lunch. While eating, Louie enquired about the cooking. Diana said that Louie ni ada rasa takut ketika memasak, takut untuk menambah perasa, takut untuk mencuba. Diana menasihati agar jangan ada rasa takut sekiranya dia rasa apa yang dibuat adalah betul. Don't think twice. (Like Nike said) Just do it. |
