I got info from Wikipedia that olaparib is an FDA-approved targeted therapy for cancer, developed by KuDOSPharmaceuticals and later by AstraZeneca. In fact, it is a PARPinhibitor. Can anyone who knows this area tell me more about how itworks, please?
olaparib ni di appoved utk diguna pada pesakit cancer ovary yang ada brca1 atau brca2 gnetic mutations. Do you know what brca1 &2 mutations are? u must understand that even if a therapy is approved, it doesnt mean that it is used as a regime or part of a regime of treatment by a doctor. we will choose what we use or when to use it based on our expertise, pt profiles etc.
sebab itulah sgt byk jenis painkillers ada, dan semua nya diapproved as painkilers..paracetamol, ibuprofen, diclofenac acid, mefenamic acid etc etc beratus ratus jens..dan setiap nya byk lak combinationnya.

Hi dr @ipes2, I baru buat market research study tentang ovarian cancer kat Malaysia ni. Olaparib ni masih tak banyak diguna sebab faktor harga yang alamakkkkk.... mahal sangat.
Tak pasti pula sama ada AstraZeneca ada program seperti 'patients access programme' untuk membantu pesakit2 yang memerlukan (Patients only have to pay a fraction of the price, pharma co subsidize separuhnya--lebih kurang kot). Most of the oncologists yang diinterview untuk study ni cakap, they have seen / heard a lot about Olaparib but never prescribed it to their patient. Kalau tak silap, cuma ada satu lab saja di Malaysia ni untuk buat test BR
Anyway, Selamat hari raya. Minal aidil wal faidzin. Mohon maaf lahir dan batin. :-)
Eid mubarak to you too.
That was very good of you to do a market research.
To be fair, in this current world that we live in, research is almost mandatory in order to focus our efforts in fields that we are in.
Im not surprised with your findings, as even over here, Olaparib is not used just yet.
Im disappointed to know that improtant genes like brca1 and brca2 testings are not widely available. A wealthy country like Malaysia should have all these.
