Find solutions to improve Internet access, Gobind tells TM


KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Broadband service provider, Telekom Malaysia (TM), needs to find ways to improve Internet access and penetration nationwide, says Gobind Singh Deo.  

The Communications and Multimedia Minister said it was the government's policy to provide broadband Internet access to the people and to give emphasis to the best quality of service.  

“It is the government's policy to provide access to all, not only the supply, but also the best quality of service, while at the same time being able to compete with other countries at the international level,” he tweeted on Monday (Sept 10).  

He said this in response to complaints that the Internet access in several locations in the country was still unreliable, despite users being charged with unreasonable price.  

“The matter is now under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry's scrutiny. Discussions will be held soon with all telcos offering new packages,” he said.

The minister also asked TM to re-evaluate its Streamyx broadband service, which was alleged to be less satisfactory.  

“TM needs to explain the problem with Streamyx and what is the constraint, in terms of infrastructure, that hampered the speed, and they need to propose some measures to solve this problem.  

“In order to achieve targets to provide access to all, higher speeds, lower prices and better quality, all must work together and do their part. Constant updates on part of all telcos is important,” he said.

Meanwhile, TM Group in its reply on Twitter said that it had taken note of the comment and suggestions.  

“TM is in the midst of collaborating with the ministry and other industry players in improving broadband access, capability and speed for all Malaysians,” it said. - Bernama

Internet malaysia macam kura kura. Balik kampung kena letak phone atas tingkap baru dpt reception.  Kena ada banyak persaingan baru pengguna dpt kemudahan yang bagus.

Dah naik cemuih dok tanya bila nak pasang fiber line area umah aku.. boleh pulak coverage berselang-seli.. hujung simpang ada fiber line, taman perumahan belakang ada fiber line, pangkal simpang ada fiber line..
Harga streamyx pulak tak mau turun... Lately ni, speed cam haram..tak konsistent.. pelaq..

patutnua govind tengok balik kenapa tender fiberization hsbb dulu di buka hanya TM sahaja yang sanggup...kenapa maxis dan yg lain tak nak masuk......ini semua disbbkan kos dan roi...

Kan. Area rumah my mum pun gitu. Taman depan ada, area dia tak jugak dipasang. Janji bulan 5 haritu tp takde jugak lg.

Rasa nya TM now mmg buat tak tau je kat streamyx sejak ada unifi. Tu pasal teruk gila.

Maxis pun guna tm punya cable. TM bukan xnk pasang fiber kat area rumah korg, tapi tgk la cost mcm mana? Kalau 1 taman tu tm pasang fiber, user sorg je, rugilah TM. igt tanam cable kat tanah org x kena byr ke? That y TM kena buat survey dan ambil masa bertahun tahun utk pasang fiber.

Utk streamyx pulak, selalu je org curi cable. Bg aku streamyx da cukup murah, cuma yg aku x faham, kalau user pkai 2mbp or 4 mbps, kau nak laju mcm mana kalau pkai package tu? Pastu guna wifi lak.

Unifi pn sama..sy gne unifi mobile..still cm hampeh gk line..kdg2 tu bley plak hilang line..byr mhl kot per month

Maafkan sy wahai user..sy terpaksa ckp jugak...

bila harga streamyx n unifi tidak selari...speed ciput, masalah line x stabil...bila hujan lagi teruk...

sy x taw la sedara alami benda ini atau tidak...tapi sy alaminya dulu...
fiber tidak semestinya kena lalu bawah tanah...d kawasan rumah sy jln yadi klang...box fiber pasang kat tiang telefon TM tidak tanam...jika x percaya sila pi tgk....tidak semestinya semua fiber kena lalu bawah...

sy orang pertama yang pasang unifi d kawasan rumah sy tu sejak tahun 2011...la ni port da penuh..kawasan kg je pun...yg penting marketing strategy...

ada point yg sy setuju dgn sedara mengenai cost, kawasan, populasi penduduk( julat Kanak2,Remaja, parents, org tua, etc...) sebab depa ada database berapa ramai yg melanggan servis depa d kawasan tersebut...yg jadi masalah bila kawasan yg ada potensi n penduduk request utk adakan fiber tapi masalah2 seperti di atas...

bila tanya TIME.com utk masukkan fiber depa..tidak dapat d sebabkan masalah lesen ISP...

jika ada point yg salah harap betulkan sy....

I pernah meeting dulu2 dengar orang ICT bg tau fiber ni TM pasang ikut lokasi...
Low, Medium & High end kawasan perumahan..
Kalau low end area, membazir je pasang kalau target pengguna tak sampai beberapa % je..
Kalau High end, memang kena pasang la..
