PAU, a common local delight, is popular among Malaysians, and Pau Pak Ngah is offering a unique take on the traditional, but much loved bread-like dumpling.

Pau Pak Ngah has been around since 1999, and is expanding with a stall set up in October last year in Taman Bukit Indah, Ampang.

“My parents, Roslan Abdullah and Azrina Ishak started the business and I took over when they retired. I told them that I wanted to take it to the next level,” said Afiq Roslan, the owner of Pau Pak Ngah.

The family business started out with them preparing and selling freshly made pau from their house.

After taking over, Afiq then opened a restaurant in Shah Alam, but it closed down last month.

Now he has time to focus on his stall in Bukit Indah and supplying pau. Since then, he has created unique flavours such as chicken carbonara and mushroom carbonara which were introduced last year.

When these were introduced, Afiq said customers were intrigued by the new pau flavours and the response was good.

“The popular flavours are the traditional ones like kaya and red bean, and the new ones with carbonara and cheesy beef bolognese.

“We want to appeal to the younger generation with our new flavours,” he said, adding that they would introduce more flavours soon.

To get the desired result, Afiq experiments with ingredients and has tastings before the new flavour gets the go-ahead.

He claims that Pau Pak Ngah was the only stall in Malaysia to have carbonara fillings in its pau.

“We want customers to enjoy the pau from the first to the last bite,” he said.

Afiq added that when people first tried the carbonara-filled pau, they thought it contained pasta when it was only the sauce.

There are 10 flavours, priced from RM2 to RM3 per piece.

Pau Pak Ngah also supplies pau to a hawker in Bandar Bukit Puchong. There are plans to open four stalls in the Klang Valley.

The Taman Bukit Indah stall is located at Jalan Medan Bukit Indah 1. It opens from 2pm to 10pm.

Pau yg plg best seumur hidup i pernah makan pau pak hailam, dulu2 kalo malas nk drive, balik dari uni naik bas kt tbs selalu beli pau tu. tp haritu pergi tbs dh takde dh pau pak hailam tu. tp kedai ada lagi.

2nd pau yik mun kt tg malim. Takdela sedap sgat. Tp kira pau yik mun ni benchmark la utk tekak I.

Kalau blk dr utara mesti beli pau yik mun frozen kat rnr ulu bernam. Mahal sikit la tapi isi byk dan sedap.

Penah mkn pau chicken cheese order online pon sedap je. Takde la fusion sgt pon.

perisa traditional gak yg sedap, tak teringin langsung pau carbonara/bolognese. kat sini kedai paling murah rm1.30-1.50 jah sebiji lembut gila . ada sesetgh tempat letak harga ummah urban nk rm2 ke atas tapi pau keras cam batu

Entah kenapa..iols suka pau kaya ..kalau kaya cina lagi sedap..
Matik lah iolss kena kecam..hahaha
