KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 — A coalition of Muslim groups have demanded that Putrajaya rescind the moratorium on the death penalty, so it could be used against the murderers of slain firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.

In a press conference, Gerakan Pembela Ummah said those found guilty should hang under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which stipulates the capital punishment for murder.

“The police must investigate this matter quickly and bring justice to those guilty of murdering the late Muhammad Adib. The Attorney General must charge those responsible without favouring anyone under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” said its chairman Aminuddin Yahaya, who is also the deputy president of Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma).

In addition, Ummah also demanded that two federal ministers and a Selangor executive councillor be arrested immediately, for allegedly inciting racial hatred and subsequently causing Adib’s death.

It claimed minister in charge of racial unity P. Waytha Moorthy, Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran, and Selangor exco V. Ganabatirau should be investigated and charged under the Sedition Act.

“This is to be read together with Section 3(1)(e) for spreading bad intentions, animosity and hatred among the races, Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing the duties of civil servants as well as Sections 505(b) and (c) of the Penal Code for issuing statements that caused friction between two religious communities.

“And they must resign immediately because they failed to handle this case leading to racial tension,” said Aminuddin, who was accompanied by the leaders of around 30 other Muslim groups.

Ummah also demanded for those who claimed a fire engine had run over Adib to apologise to the late fire fighter’s family and the Fire and Rescue Department.

                    

It also directed its ire against Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad, and Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari for purportedly attempting to play down the incident.

It said it will head to the Prime Minister’s Office this Friday to hand a memorandum of that effect to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Our online petition calling for the resignation of Waytha Moorthy, Kulasegaran and Ganabatirau has received 200,000 signatures. This shows the people are behind us on this,” he claimed.

However, when asked if Ummah has lodged a police report against the trio, Aminuddin said no such thing has been done.

Kerajaan PH ni aku rasa macam tak diberi mandat oleh Allah untuk memerintah..gila chaotic here and there..aku bukan la spesis yg tidak rasional..but i can see..and feel..aku tak terkejut kalau lepas ni ada 'gelombang' besar yg akan berlaku..

Teringat ayat dlm Quran.."Mereka cuba menipu dan Allah membalas tipu daya mereka.." gitu la lebih kurang..memang apa2 saja yg PH kecam UMNO dulu, terkena balik setepek kat muka masing2..kalau penyokong2 PH tak sedar gak tak tau lah nak ckp apa..

Lagi satu, memang disebut ok dalam Quran..jgn pilih pemimpin di kalangan nasrani dan yahudi..means non muslim la..coz mereka ni akan membawa kerosakan ..lihat la apa yg berlaku di Malaysia dan negara2 lain yg bergolak..siapa pemimpin mereka dan penting juga tengok siapa di belakang pemimpin mereka..

Dalam BN dulu pun pilih pemimpin non-Muslim jua jadi menteri and stuff. Sama jer. Ker ko nak PAS jadi gomen? PAS pun ada letak calon non-Muslim kat kerusi yg diorg bertanding.

Yang non-muslims yg aku maksudkan ni adalah spesis rasis dan mendatangkan mudharat pada orang lain..kalau pemimpin non-muslims yg adil dan baik, haruslah kita hargai..

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 ― Terengganu Amanah Youth has proposed that Senator P. Waytha Moorthy be replaced with former PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar as a minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of unity and social wellbeing.

The state chapter's Youth chief Mohd Hasbie Muda said that it is becoming difficult to defend the former Hindraf leader, as even those within Pakatan Harapan are calling for his resignation, news portal Malaysiakini reported today.

“Nurul is a breath of fresh air. She is a young leader who takes the moderate approach and understands the various communities,” he was quoted saying.
Mohd Hasbie said Nurul Izzah is accepted by both the Malay-majority constituency of Permatang Pauh and the mixed seat of Lembah Pantai.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said yesterday he has yet to decide on Waytha's fate, following pressure from various quarters for the latter to be sacked, with a protest planned this Friday.

“I believe that as a government which listens to the people, a decision must be made immediately to remove Waytha Moorthy,” Mohd Hasbie said in response.

The Youth wing of Dr Mahathir’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has reportedly delivered a memorandum asking for Waytha’s removal.

Waytha is currently under pressure even from within Pakatan Harapan (PH) to quit, over his poor handling of the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam Temple riot last month.

Dr Mahathir last month defended Waytha and his performance, after a video of his remarks published almost a decade ago surfaced again.
PPBM Youth’s memorandum comes ahead of another memorandum to be delivered by Malay-Muslim groups tomorrow.
The groups plan to march after Friday prayers towards the Prime Minister’s Office.
Malay rights group Perkasa have also threatened to stage a demonstration if Waytha is not removed from Cabinet

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) and other youth groups have called for P. Waythamoorthy to step down from his ministerial post.
This in the wake of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim's death on Monday night from injuries sustained in a riot at the Seafield temple.
MYC president Jufitri Joha said Waythamoorthy failed in his task and responsibility as the National Unity and Social Wellbeing minister, when he lambasted the authorities for their slow response in the wake of the Nov 26 riot at the Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya.
"This is not the kind of statement that a Minister should make. He was seen as inciting anger among the Indians through his statement."
"He blames the police and this contributed to the death of Muhammad Adib who sustained injuries during a second riot on Nov 27.
"The MYC is very disappointed with Waythamoorthy as he did not portray the image of someone who holds the unity portfolio and who should preserve, sustain and improve the relation among Malaysians," said Jufitri in a press conference at the MYC headquarters, here today.
He said any statement to do with security matters and riots should have only come from the Home Ministry, to ensure the facts are not being misconstrued.
"And if there is any statement from Waythamoorthy, it should be for the people to remain calm and not to add to the public’a confusion, anger and misunderstanding," he said.
Jufitri said Waytha must realise that people were dissatisfied with his performance and as such should have resigned already if he was indeed a people oriented leader.
"The best thing for him to do is to resign now with dignity," said Jufitri, adding that they would also send a copy of the statement to the Prime Minister so that he can take steps to sack Waythamoorthy in the event that the latter does not resign.
He adds that the minister's move in temporarily deactivating his Facebook after receiving brickbats from netizens following Muhammad Adib's death on Monday (Dec 17) also showed that he was not a ministerial material, added Jufitri.
"When he has shut down his Facebook after getting negative comments, it showed that the people were angry with him but he didn't handle it in a gentlemanly way," said Jufitri.
Checks confirmed that Waythamoorthy had indeed recently temporarily deactivated his Facebook page but it is now however back online.
He said that should Waytha not bow to the demands from the council to step down, MYC would make a more concerted effort to ensure that he does.
Jufitri also said that an NGO planning to hold a rally in Penang this Friday (Dec 21) will also make similar demands.
An online petition started by Gerakan Pengundi Sedar (GPS) demanding that Waythamoorthy step down as minister and Senator has currently gained more than 215,000 signatures.
Adib and other fireman from the Subang Jaya Emergency Response System (EMRS) unit were deployed to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya to put out a vehicle fire on Nov 27.
However, Adib was dragged out of the vehicle and set upon by a mob.
He was later rescued by members the public who rushed him to the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) for treatment and then transferred to the National Heart Institute for further treatment.
Adib was subsequently placed on life support due to his critical condition.
Despite initially showing signs of recovery, his condition took a turn for the worse and he died.
