Sanggup bergadai nyawa demi kebenaran...

Fwd- Korea  Last year 94 journalist were killed for doing their jobs. Let's all be thankful for those journalists in our world that is trying to tell the truth, no matter what risks they faces. We should all be thankful for this, no matter what our opinion is on the ongoing scandal.

Fwd- A Mexican journalist who often covered crime and drug gangs in northern Sonora state died late Friday night after being gunned down at point-blank range in his home near the U.S. border, local authorities said on Saturday.

Santiago Barroso was shot multiple times after an unknown assailant knocked on his front door, the state prosecutor's office said in a statement. He was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

Barroso worked as a multimedia journalist in the border town of San Luis Rio Colorado, about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Yuma, Ariz., on the U.S. side. He was host of a local radio show, director of the news website Red 563 and a contributor to weekly newspaper Contrasea.

While it was unclear whether his killing was linked to his work, Barroso was the third journalist killed so far this year in Mexico, one of the world's most dangerous countries for reporters.

Wiki-

The assassination of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi dissident, journalist for The Washington Post and former general manager and editor-in-chief of Al-Arab News Channel, occurred on 2 October 2018 at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey and was perpetrated by agents of the Saudi Arabian government.[6][7] The exact cause of his death is unknown since his body has not been located or examined.[8][9] Government officials of several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, believe Khashoggi was murdered. Turkey in particular believes it was premeditated murder, and anonymous Saudi officials have admitted that agents affiliated with the Saudi government killed him.[8][10

Bunuh utk tutup rahsia, atau bunuh utk balas dendam.. Atau bunuh sebab diupah utk dapatkan duit. Nilai nyawa manusia sgt murah. Especially utk yg terlibat utk tegakkan kebenaran. Utk org yg buat jenayah ni, mereka sanggup lakukan apa saja asalkan mereka tak tertangkap. Hurmmm, tp mereka silap,, ada yang lebih berkuasa dari mereka. Khenn

      UNESCO Condemns Killing of Journalists
                    safety_of_journalists_dcmf.jpg

This page is dedicated to journalists who were killed in the exercise of their profession. It remembers their contribution to freedom of expression, democracy and peace.

UNESCO is the United Nations agency with a mandate to defend freedom of expression and press freedom. Article 1 of its Constitution requires the Organization to “further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples of the world, without distinction of race, sex, language or religion, by the Charter of the United Nations.” To realize this purpose the Organization is required to “collaborate in the work of advancing the mutual knowledge and understanding of peoples, through all means of mass communication and to that end recommend such international agreements as may be necessary to promote the free flow of ideas by word and image…”.

On 12 November 1997, UNESCO's General Conference, at its 29th session, adopted the Resolution 29 "Condemnation of Violence against Journalists" inviting the Director-General to condemn assassination and any physical violence against journalists as a crime against society, since this curtails freedom of expression and, as a consequence, the other rights and freedoms set forth in international human rights instruments and to urge that the competent authorities discharge their duty of preventing, investigating and punishing such crimes and remedying their consequences.

At the 26th session of the Intergovernmental Council of the International Programme for Development and Communication(IPDC) in March 2008, the Director-General was requested to provide an analytical report on the basis of responses received from Member States concerned, including updated information on the Director-General’s condemnations of the killing of journalists since 2006, and make this report widely available. Since 2008, such reports have been prepared every two years. Their distinctive feature is that they provide an overview of the status of judicial enquiries into the killings of journalists condemned by the Director-General. The reports can be consulted here. The 2016 Report will be presented to the IPDC Council on 17 November.

(These lists are non-exhaustive. For others, please see the work by other non-governmental organizations.)

personal view:

semua berbalik kepada etika yang dipegang jurnalis sebab being a journalist memang kena deliver the "truth".

depends on what's the WORTH of the truth.

- kebenaran - risiko - pilihan - siar - akibat.

- kebenaran - risiko - pilihan - simpan  - akibat.

Both comes with the risk..related/threatened third party doesn't really care if the information is legit or even accurate, any 'risk' should be dealt with.

nak sampaikan kebenaran bukannya mudah..
kalau tak expose, lagi bermaharajalela orang berkuasa buat sesuka hati dorang..

Expose. If i am a writer, i rather die for the truth than living in a lie. Especially when it will contribute to a greater society.
