‘Ministry cannot absorb all medical graduates, posts subject to availability’

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Health (MOH) can no longer fully absorb graduate medical officers, including those sponsored by the government, to permanent appointments because it is subject to the availability of posts at health facilities, said its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pix).

‘’The number of new permanent posts is also created based on certain criteria, the need of jobs does not take into account the number of medical graduates produced,’’ he said yesterday.

Graduate medical officers who had completed graduate training, had full registration certificates and completed the mandatory service but not absorbed into public service had the chance to serve in other public sector agencies such as university hospitals and the private sector which needed proficiency in the field of health, he said.

Following the issue of graduates being forced to wait a long time and graduate medical officers encountering problems to complete their graduate training in two years prior to this, the government had decided to amend the policy of the appointments of graduate medical officers from permanent to contract, he said.

The maximum period for a contract appointment would be five years, namely, three years for graduate training and two years for mandatory service.

With the policy change, MOH succeeded in appointing 16,407 graduate medical officers from December, 2016 to October 2019 with an emolument expenditure of RM1.63 billion, he said.

However, he said the issue of waiting period still happened due to factors which were beyond its control such as the increasing number of graduates compared to only 12,033 training slots provided at 46 graduate training hospitals and permanently appointed graduate medical officers who had not ended their graduate training.

In the meantime, he said the application of the MOH for 10,675 various posts had been submitted and was being considered by the central agencies such as the Public Service Department, Public Services Commission and the Ministry of Finance. — Bernama

Honestly, mmg patut ketatkan pengambilan doktor doktor ni. I sendiri ada pengalaman kerja dgn doktor doktor baru habis HO yg sgt teruk. Masuk tempat I sbb masa HO performance teruk. Diorg ni batch sebelum MOH tukar ke status kontrak tu. Ya Rabbi... Majoriti pemalas, kaki mengular, dtg kerja berborak je. Bosses tak tegur sebab bosses pun kalangan MO, so diorg a bit bias towards them. Kita yg jawatan lain ni sakit hati je kena buat kerja org.

Betul...depa ni ramai je yg berkira kerja.

Amik jer yg dari proper Uni Medical yg well known pasal quality samda dalam dan luar negara...masalah lambakan ni bila ada budak2 yg kurang bijak nak jadi doctor pastu masuk kolej dan uni tah haper2 balik apply jadi doktor...paling teruk yg jadi doctor kena paksa dgn parents....mmg mcm sial la kalau depa keja...pasal tak ada hati kat bidang tuh...

Doktor jenis nila bolayan pesakit. Ayah sy g private clinic, baru buka mulut ckp kaki saki, terus bg ubat gout. Makin bengkak  teruk, masuk hospital besar, sebaik ayah sy jenis bersedia, bwk sekali ubat dia mkn tu, terus doktor hosp tanya ada gout ke. Xde, salah bagi ubat ni. Rasa mcm cuci perut kot something like that. Sebaik sihat lg smpai skg.

Patutnye kerja la elok2, gaji diorang bayar mahal kot, dengan elaun2 lagi... skim perkhidmatan dia mmg lumayan la kalau sektor kerajaan tu

Betul. Now doc ramai yg tak bijak mana pun tapi jadi doc. Sbb i ramai cousins yg mak pak depa gi hantar study kat india, rusia padahal result spm depa nk dpt tpt kat uni sini pun tak lepas kot. End up bila balik keje kat hospital gov tak survive pun. Tukar career masing2.

mmg btl. Skrg ni ko nak jd apa pun blh dgn lambakan uni swasta. result spm bodoh2 pun blh apply. Janji byr yuran.

Sama la.. Anak buah akak mak pak hantar ke Bangladesh utk ambil medic. Sebab bila jadi doktor tu dah masuk golongan elit gitu.. Elit kalau berkualiti x apa. Ni nak masuk ipta sini pun x lepas. Tiba2 pi sana ambil medic.. Kalau ipta sini, 4.0 pun x gerenti tempat utk ambil medical...

Sanggup downgraded pg Bangladesh demi  status medic.. then dpt Dr tu Kan. Iols penah kena dgn Dr bila I questions dia punya diagnosed. Terus sound I, "u Doktor ke I Doktor?". Berlagak sangat, patut explain la Kat I kan. Terus I p clinic lain.

Junior sekarang sesuatu sangat. Tapi tulah terlajak perahu boleh undur lagi.

Ada yg bagus wat kerja, ada yang kaki ngelat. Malas. Mia. Tak nak tanggungjawab. Tinggal taik bersepah. Sorry to say, tapi banyak je yg aku tgk, semua grad dari uni2 yg aku doubt deme ni pegi scholarship or pama. Diorg ni bila pegi tgk pt acah2 tau. Acah2 pandai. Cakap keje nak marah aje.

Kalau yg bagus and eager to learn tu masih ada.

like what the hell? how to understand core subject kalau sudah fundamental pun lemah
End up duk menghafal sahaja, tidak faham konsep.. bila jadi house officers, so sucks itu tidak tahu ini tidak tahu
