ISLAM IN 15 LIVES | Intoduction to Great Muslim Figures

Whenever Islam enters a region it contributes to civilisational and cultural growth. The religion of Islam is the spring whence the wells of Muslim civilisations and societies draw their strengths and reflect their brilliances to be shared and benefited by mankind universally.

Follow us in our new series Islam in 15 Lives, every Saturday at 6PM evening, starting 3 October 2020, with Muhammad Husni Mohd. Amin, Senior Research Officer at IKIM, as we trace figures throughout fifteen centuries of Muslim history who have lived Islam to the best of their abilities, whose lives have become suitable, morally and practically, exemplars to learn from, as summed up in the Arabic term al-i‘tibar.

Over the past 7 weeks I have been speaking on the new IKIM Radio program "Islam in 15 Lives". The current first season of the show will run until end of November.

This program traces figures throughout 15 centuries of Muslim history who have lived Islam to the best of their abilities, whose lives have become suitable, morally and practically, exemplars to learn from, as summed up in the Arabic term al-iʿtibār.

Each episode starts with an introduction of a particular historical figure, a glimpse into the milieu, and a summary of contributions or impact made by the figure. For those who have missed out the previous episodes, you can watch them on the links below:

Episode 1: Introduction to great Muslim figures

Mujaddids are people who appear at the turn of every century to rejuvenate the religion. This episode talks about the first Mujaddid in the 8th century, the Umayyad Caliph ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz who, through his short 3-year reign, befriended scholars, initiated collection of the Prophetic Traditions, encouraged education, reformed administration, and abolished bad policies.

Known as the Father of Arab philosophy, he worked under the auspices of the ʿAbbāsid court in Baghdad and had his own vast personal library named after him, the al-Kindiyyah. ingin saya kongsikan satu benda perihal refleksi diri dalam penulisan

tak dapat tidak , penulisan and idea yg dibawa akan menggambarkan apa yg bermain di benak aqal

aqal adalah sebahagian daripada juzuk insan, jawhar nutq, part of ruh

jadi ingin saya kongsikan di sini sebagai peringatan buat diri dan juga semua , I mean it is hard to do this, because ia libatkan jiwa, minda dan diri

so fikir fikirkanlah..

so yes.

Sejarah to me is past reality so saya tak beratkan sangat walo saya peminat sejarah

Yg bahaya bila asik terlaku sejarah kita syok sendiri n senyum sendiri mcm orang gila walo air bah dah naik paras lutut!!  That is what happening to us

Saya sekarang lebih tekan kan present reality..yg mana hingga arini kita masih pengotor n tak reti ajar diri buang sampah dlm tong sampah n bukan dlm.sungai..tu antara buat banjir kilat!

So now on..sejarah to me sekadar a sign post je
