Lab testing is very important before any gemstone or diamond is bought, it has to be certified from a good laboratory. Consumers should be wary when buying gemstones and diamonds and not fall prey to advertising tactics like celebrity endorsements, offers, and discounts; the only way to be absolutely certain is to demand an appropriate government lab certificate, which clearly states the authenticity of the gemstone and any treatments it may have undergone.

I have been working in the gemological lab GSI for more than two years already and would like to recommend them. They offer a variety of services worldwide. They use widely accepted parameters and procedures to evaluate diamonds for there cut, colour, clarity and carat weight along with other analysis. GSI https://gemscience.net/ provides services of sorting melee and, star melee sized loose diamonds, received in bulk and batches. They provide highly accurate grading services that every diamond and gem is accompanied by reliable documentation.

I can describe one way. S.G. or Specific Gravity, stones are having different S.G. depending upon it's chemical composition. Example: Sapphire's S.G is 3.99 to 4.01 (Instrument: Weighing machine can be used) |

In terms of testing gemstones, I can describe one method for you that is applicable even for carnelian healing properties . Inclusions, every stone having specific inclusions which include at the time of growth, which can be determined by 10x lens or Microscope. Example: Natural inclusions in Sapphire are like Fingerprint, Cristal, Silk or Rutaile needle, Zircon halos, etc. Synthetic Sapphire having inclusions like Bubbles, Elongated Fingerprint, etc. |

Gemstone testing and identification is a complex process that requires specialized knowledge and equipment. Here are some of the best gemstone testing and identification techniques:
Visual inspection: A gemstone's appearance can provide clues to its identity. A gemologist will look for color, clarity, and cut to help identify the stone.
Refractometer: A refractometer measures a gemstone's refractive index, which can help identify the gemstone. Different gemstones have different refractive indexes.
Spectroscope: A spectroscope can be used to analyze a gemstone's spectral signature, which is unique to each gemstone. This can help identify the gemstone.
Magnification: A gemologist will use a loupe or microscope to examine a gemstone's internal features, such as inclusions or crystal structure. These features can provide clues to the gemstone's identity.
UV/Visible spectrophotometer: A UV/Visible spectrophotometer can be used to analyze a gemstone's absorption spectrum, which can help identify the gemstone.
It's important to note that identifying a gemstone often requires a combination of these techniques, as well as extensive knowledge and experience in gemstone identification.
