nilai proton savvy di negara urban... top 10 car worth buying 2013

Used car prices fall to their lowest level for more than a year – but some regions miss out on the best deals
PUBLISHED: 13:01 GMT, 14 January 2013 | UPDATED: 13:01 GMT, 14 January 2013

[size=1.2em]Now could be the time to snap up a secondhand car as prices have reached their lowest level for 15 months, research has found.

[size=1.2em]Used car values dropped 1.71 per cent between November and December alone, according to website usedcarexpert.co.uk.
[size=1.2em]It means the average price for a used car is now £8,540 - the lowest figure since September 2011.

Used cars: Values have fallen to their lowest since September 2011, according to research

[size=1.2em]But while buyers in the South West are now paying an average of only £6,951 for a secondhand vehicle, those in the North East have to fork out £10,805 on average.
[size=1.2em]The South West prices last month reflected a fall of 6.31 per cent since November. Prices also fell 6.2 per cent in Scotland and 5.31 per cent in East Anglia.
[size=1.2em]In contrast, prices rose 6.45 per cent, to £8,087, in the West Midlands. There were also increases in the North East which saw the average value rise 2.59 per cent and in the East Midlands, up 1.59 per cent.

[size=1.2em]The fall in used car prices might mean that it is a good time to haggle, whether buying from the forecourt or privately.
[size=1.2em]Research has found the economic downturn has resulted in drivers become a legion of thrifty bargain hunters, with the average buyer shaving £939 off the price of a new or used car as they armed with more knowledge of prices.
[size=1.2em]The Auto Trader research found that between July and September, three in five motorists paid under the asking price.
[size=1.2em]Matthew Tumbridge, editor of usedcarexpert.co.uk, said: ‘Prices have not been this low for over 12 months and in many regions, used car prices have fallen as the economy remains weak and unstable and motorists hold on to their vehicles.
[size=1.2em]‘As motorists face rising prices in insurance and fuel in 2013, it certainly pays motorists to shop around to get the best used-car deal, as they can save over £3,500 if they are prepared to travel.’
[size=1.2em]‘The regional price fluctuations are due to local economic conditions impacting on pricing.’

[size=1.2em]New car sales in good health

[size=1.2em]Figures last week revealed that the British car market had a stellar year in 2012 compared to other big European markets.
[size=1.2em]More than two million new cars were sold in 2012, an increase of 5.3 per cent on 2011 and the highest since 2008, said the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). It was also the biggest increase since 2001.
[size=1.2em]There were dramatic falls of new car sales in Italy and France - falling 19.9 per cent and 14 per cent last year respectively.

Peugeot 307: A typical three year model has lost 27.3% of its value in just six months, according to the website

[size=1.2em]Renault Scenic and Nissan Qashqai retain value best
[size=1.2em]The website has also analysed the re-sale value of many popular family cars and uncovered 60 models that are worth just half of their showroom value after three years of ownership.
[size=1.2em]It has complied ten three-year old cars to avoid buying in early 2013 and ten cars of the same age worth buying below, looking at how much value each three-year old model has lost in the last six months:

[size=1.2em]Cars which have gained value in the last six months have done so because of demand, popularity and the need for families to buy people carriers.
[size=1.2em]The Renault Scenic and Nissan Qashqai for example are versatile people movers and families like to buy second hand examples. This keeps used prices relatively high.
[size=1.2em]Other vehicles such as the Hyundai Getz and Dodge Caliber, are much harder to find used examples of and this means second hand prices tend to remain high.
[size=1.2em]Matthew Tumbridge added: '[size=1.2em]Cars that depreciate heavily in their first three years run out of value to lose eventually, so car buyers can pick up a car with 75 per cent of its reliable life left, for 40 per cent of the original new price.
[size=1.2em]'The Renault Scenic makes enormous sense for a family on a ‘normal’ budget. It's a practical and cheap compact MPV with a comfortable ride and good diesel engines.
[size=1.2em]'There's generous room for passengers in the back, plenty of useful cubbyholes dotted around and some excellent safety features like Sleep Safe headrests which support the necks of youngsters. And there are plenty of three year old examples with around 26,000 miles on the clock.'
