when i was pregnant with my 5th child, yg no.4 baru umur setahun 2 bulan... dia ni memang fully breastfeeding...tak kira waktu especially masa nak tidur...walaupun dia dah minum susu dlm botol...tapi bila kandugan dah masuk 7-8 bulan, i tak breastfeed dia sangat...sebab kebiasannya kalau baby menyusu, rahim kita akan mengecut, kan? so takut nanti ada contration, i tak bagi sangat la..cuma time nak tidur aje bagi...bila adik dia dah lahir, dia sambung semula menetek...berebut2 dgn adik dia...teruk jugalah masa tu...dah lah masih dlm pantang...sabar je...tapi lama kelamaan dia berhenti sendiri...tak nyusu badan lagi...cuma kekadang tu ada la dia lepaskan gian dia...dah nak masuk 3 tahun ni pun dia still nak lagi...

so ain, kalau ain rasa ain masih mampu nak breastfeedkan dia, teruskanlah. ambil lebih makanan berzat...tapi macam adik akak, mnasa dia pregnant anak ke-2,  anak yg sulung tu berhenti sendiri dari nyusu badan...mungkin dia rasa tak sedap agaknya...

Ini pengalaman kakak ipar ummi. Masa dia mengandung anak ke-2, anak 1st baru berumur 7 bulan. Dia teruskan bagi breastfeed kat anak 1st samapai bersalin anak ke-2. Dr pakar bagitau x ade masalah dan dibolehkan kalau kita bagi susu badan utk kedua2 anak. Maksudnya boleglah bergilir2. Sebab yg si kakak (anak1st) dah besar sikit & pandai menyusu akan membantu membanyakkan susu ibu (rahim lagi kuat mengecut).
Tapi, mengikut kata org tua2, diaorg tak kasi berkongsi menyusu ngan adik. Sebab takut cacing...Tak tahulah betul ke idak. So, ain boleh tanya pada Dr masalah ini.

Kalaiu nak tahu tip utk berhentikan anak menyusu, boleh try cara ni. Sapukan asam jawa kat situ.

saya rasa takde masalam kalo pregnant nak susukan badan...just kena ambil lebih makanan berkhasiat so that ur body can cope...kekadang kasihan tengok sang abang masih belum puas nak breastfeed tapi dah nak dpt adik pulak..in my case, i keep on breastfeeding masa i pregnant... idont think it effected my pregancy at all. n yg kelako, bila baby dah lahir, abang masih nak menyusu n selalunya berebut..sometimes i fed them dua2 sekaligus...macam anak kucing leee...it was a bit embarassing for me..tapi apa nak buat...deal ajelaaa..it's not like everyday u will experience sth like that..tu namanya pengorbanan walaupun nampak mcm kelako n memalukan situasi tu..if u want to know more about ur situation, perhaps u can type tandem nursing kat google or more specifically kat babycenter.com or any websites yg seumpamanya...insyaAllah..u will get the answer..sometimes 9and perhaps most of the time), if u rajin baca from reliable sources drp internet psl hal-ehwal parenting etc...u r even more knowledgeable drp doktor esp gp..kalo u dok tanya gp pun kekdg dia bagi jawapan nak taknak. bukan nak discredit them..tapi betullah kan? unless u tanya pakar kanak2 or pakar bersalin etc..lain lah..anyway, teruskan penyususan ibu...tiada tandingannya...

Tandem Nursing梂hat Is It? Is It for You?

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/8148/tandem.html

by Salli Gamez

Any woman who decides to ecologically breastfeed and allow her child to naturally wean many eventually face a situation she may have never considered before梟ursing through a pregnancy and then tandem nursing.

Tandem nursing is when you nurse two (or more) children of different ages. This doesn抰 need to include physically nursing both children at the same time, although some women do. First, let抯 answer some basic questions, then we抣l look at reasons to consider tandem nursing.

Wean during pregnancy?
Many women assume they need to wean during a new pregnancy. Is it safe to nurse through a pregnancy? A well-nourished mother can meet both her unborn baby抯 needs and the needs of her older baby as long as he is a year or older. If her baby is younger, the mother should monitor weight gain to make sure her baby needs no supplementation. Some mothers may need to consume extra calories, or may need extra vitamin supplements. There seems to be no evidence that the unborn baby weighs any less at birth when his mother nursed through a pregnancy then when his mother doesn抰.
Can nursing cause pre-term labor? Uterine contractions are experienced when nursing while pregnant, and mothers who have a history of miscarriage or pre-term labor may find this worrisome, but there is no evidence that nursing through pregnancy causes pre-term labor. A woman who has been advised by her doctor to abstain from coitus for serious medical reasons during her pregnancy might be well advised to wean also. La Leche League抯 Breastfeeding Answerbook lists uterine pain or continued weight loss by the mother during pregnancy as other reasons to wean during pregnancy. Otherwise, there seems to be little danger.

While in most cases it is safe to continue nursing, a woman should also heed her feelings: Does she want to continue? Some points a woman will want to consider include the age of the child, the child抯 physical and emotional need to nurse, whether the mother is experiencing any pregnancy-related discomfort due to nursing, the mother抯 past nursing experience, and the father抯 feelings.

Many women are happiest simply deciding not to decide, they continue nursing and see if the child seems willing to wean. Mothers who choose this approach should be aware that toddlers often reduce to minimal levels of nursing during a pregnancy (probably due to low milk levels), which can leave mothers feeling that the nursing is so infrequent that it won抰 be a problem. However, after the new birth, toddlers will sometimes increase nursing, sometimes even surpassing the new baby. This is normal. If it is expected, it does not need to be a problem.

Nursing During Pregnancy and Tandem Nursing FAQ:
Is it safe to nurse during pregnancy?
Yes, in most cases. At this time no medical study has been done on the safety of breastfeeding during pregnancy so it is impossible to list any definitive contraindications. If you are having a complicated pregnancy, such as lost weight, bleeding, or signs of preterm labor, you should problem-solve your individual situation with your caregiver. Depending on your individual situation and feelings you may decide that continued breastfeeding, reduced breastfeeding, or weaning is for the best.

Breastfeeding Contractions
Although uterine contractions are experienced during breastfeeding, they are a normal part of pregnancy. Similar contractions often occur during sexual intercourse, which many couples continue throughout pregnancy.

Miscarriage/Preterm Labor Risks
This is a common worry, but it does not appear to have a strong foundation. A recent review of research on the pregnant uterus reveals that there is actually no theoretical basis for the common concern that breastfeeding can lead to miscarriage or preterm labor in healthy pregnancies. Instead the uterus has many safeguards preventing a strong reaction to the oxytocin that breastfeeding releases.

Interestingly, experts on miscarriage and preterm labor are not among those who see a potential link between breastfeeding and these pregnancy complications. Miscarriage expert Lesley Regan, PhD, MD, quoted in Adventures in Tandem Nursing, saw no reason that breastfeeding should impact pregnancy, even if the mother has a history of miscarriage or is experiencing a threatened miscarriage.

Mother's health
There is no evidence that a well nourished mother who nurses during pregnancy is at risk nutritionally. Breastfeeding does not increase a mother's risk for osteoporosis, even when the mother nurses during pregnancy. Breastfeeding reduces the mother's risk of breast cancer.

Nursling's health
Your child will benefit from breastfeeding into the second year and beyond. The milk is just as safe during pregnancy, but pregnancy can cause milk to dwindle and can also motivate mother and child to wean. Thus if pregnancy does cause a child to receive less milk, the child will receive proportionally fewer of milk's health advantages. Indeed, weaning before two years increases the risk of illness for a child, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Doc ckp kalau kita bg time prgnant, its not a milk.. its a kolostrum. kolostrum tuh yg kuar awal2 yg jernih je kalernye kan. berkhasiat yg amat 4 our baby. kalau si abang or kakak dah isap, cian kat adiknye.. dah abis.  midwife lak ckp nanti susu kurang bl nak breastfeed baby yg baru lahir. even my mum pun x bg i bf Afi time pregnant, p dia x taulaa reasonnye.. org tua2 pesan, ikut ajer

My friend was advised by her doctor to completely stop breastfeeding coz dari segi medical, mmg rahim akan kecut and not good for baby yg dikandung.
Tp ramai hardcore breastfeeding mothers akan continue selagi badan larat.
Pada I, terpulang masing2..we have the knowledge, we should be making informed decision.

Yup. My gynae pun suh I stop bf my daugther bila I pregnant. Die cakap stimulation kat nipple tu yg increase the risk of contraction. (Same goes stimulation mase sexual intercourse). As for us, since baby I dah 1 1/2 tahun, stop je la, we are not taking any risk.
