Valencia target Ronaldo

Valencia President Juan Soler has asked Manchester United to name their price for Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Spanish press reports. Ronaldo had previously announced he wanted to move abroad, with Real Madrid his preferred destination.

But Valencia are looking to steal a march on the nine-time European champions, with President Soler insisting to Spanish daily Marca: "I have always said it will be difficult, but nothing is impossible. We won"t throw in the towel until they say no, no and no again."

"At the moment, it's top priority for our technical secretary. We have until 31 August [to complete the transfer]."

Ronaldo's future became the subject of intense media speculation after an unsavoury incident with Wayne Rooney at the World Cup, despite Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's best efforts to patch up any rift between his two young stars.

In the aftermath of the incident, Ronaldo was widely quoted as saying he wished to leave England for Spain, though has subsequently declared himself happy to stay.

Perhaps keen to avoid incurring the wrath of the North-West giants, Soler insisted that they would wait for the green light from United before discussing terms with the player

"First we want to reach agreement with the English, and then we will do the same with Cristiano Ronaldo. To do so [speak with Ronaldo] beforehand would be to disturb the player."

Del Horno signs on at Valencia

Spain defender Asier del Horno has agreed personal terms and a six-year contract with Valencia, the Primera Liga club said on Saturday. English champions Chelsea had accepted Valencia's offer for the player on Friday, which Spanish media said was around 7.5 million euros (5m pounds) .

The 25-year-old full back will be presented on Monday along with striker Fernando Morientes who moved from Liverpool in May.

Del Horno moved to Chelsea on a three-year contract from Athletic Bilbao in June 2005 for 12 million euros. He made 32 appearances for the club but failed to live up to expectations.

He hit the headlines when he was sent off for a wild challenge on Barcelona forward Lionel Messi during Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League first knockout round in February.

Although he was selected as part of the Spain squad for the World Cup finals he had to withdraw at the last minute after suffering a recurrence of an Achilles tendon problem.

Valencia finished third in the Primera Liga to earn a place in the Champions League third qualifying round next season.

Atleti secure Mista signing

Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal with Valencia for striker Mista, the Primera Liga club said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old - who has won three caps for Spain - will join on a four-year contract after undergoing a medical on Thursday. The deal is reportedly worth around five million euros.

Although Mista made 29 appearances for Valencia last season 19 were as a substitute with coach Quique Sanchez Flores preferring Pablo Aimar and David Villa to lead the line.

Striker Fernando Morientes' arrival from Liverpool appeared to have made him surplus to requirements with Valencia.

Mista scored 19 goals in the 2003/4 Liga season, when Valencia last won the title.

He is the latest in a string of signings by Atletico who have already bought forward Sergio Aguero, midfielder Costinha and defenders Ze Castro, Mariano Pernia and Yourkas Seitaridis.

Zaragoza sign Aimar

Real Zaragoza have signed Argentine international Pablo Aimar from Valencia on a four-year contract, the Primera Liga club said on Saturday. The deal for the 26-year-old midfielder, who has won 43 caps with Argentina, was reported by Spanish media to be worth around 11 million euros.

"The club consider him the most important signing in their history," Zaragoza said on their Web site.

Aimar debuted in the Argentine top-flight with River Plate before joining Valencia in 2001 for $20 million.

He went on to win two Primera Liga titles and the UEFA Cup in 2004 with Valencia, but was considered surplus to requirements for next season by coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

Zaragoza's new coach Victor Fernandez has already bought in Argentine midfielder Andres D'Alessandro on loan from Wolfsburg, and defenders Sergio Fernandez and Juanfran.

They finished 11th in the league last season and lost to Espanyol in the final of the Copa del Rey.

Portugal & Benfica Winger Simão Sabrosa To Sign For Valencia - Liverpool Target Moves To La Liga After Aimar Moves To Zaragoza

Spanish Primera Liga side Valencia are reported to be close to signing Portugal winger and Benfica captain Simão Sabrosa, who has been a Liverpool target for some time.

Valencia's president, Juan Soler, said on Saturday that he hoped to formally announce the transfer in the very near future with a move expected to be completed within the next few days.

Simão, who is currently in Valencia with his agent, is thought to be signing for the Spanish side after an initial bid of £10.2 million (

ni pasal kot

Pablo Aimar has joined Real Zaragoza from Valencia for a fee of £7.5million after falling out of favour at the Mestalla.
The 26-year-old playmaker started 28 matches last season but faded away from regular contention at the end of the season and was made available by the club who accepted Zaragoza's ambitious bid.

In his first season, Aimar helped Valencia reach the Champions League final where it lost on penalties to Bayern Munich.

However, he subsequently often struggled for a first-team place, first under coach Rafa Benitez and then under Quique Sanchez Flores, and was hampered by a series of injuries. Earlier this year, the 26-year-old forward was also hit by a bout of viral meningitis.
