Malaysian to return to Cherries

Wednesday, 8 June, 2005, 12:11 GMT 13:11 UK

Malaysia international Lim Chan Yew is set to return to Bournemouth for a month during pre-season training.

The 26-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield, spent three weeks training at Dean Court in March along with two of his compatriots.

The trio were not able to feature in competitive games on their last visit because of work permit complications.

But boss Sean O'Driscoll may now have the chance to run the rule over Lim in the Cherries' friendly games.

Lim, who currently plays for Public Bank Selangor, came through the full 90 minutes for Malaysia in Saturday's 2-0 defeat by rivals Singapore.

Lim Chan Yew - Mula Rindu

'Jangan persiakan peluang' - Nasihat Akmal Kepada Kembar

Park Chu-Young Close To Monaco Move

30 August 2008

South Korean striker Park Chu-young is close to a move to AS Monaco and will jet to France on Sunday in a bid to finalise terms before the transfer window closes on Monday.

The FC Seoul star was in action for the K-league club in their 3-1 win over Gwangju on Saturday night and is booked on a Sunday morning flight to Paris.

The 23 year-old, who has scored nine goals in 27 national team appearances, was linked with a loan move to English Premier League club Wigan Athletic earlier this week but Monaco are set to offer around $3 million for his services.

We received a request from AS Monaco on Saturday that they wanted to finalise terms with Park in France, FC Seoul said in a press release.

After agreeing terms, Park will take a medical.

If the 2004 Young Asian Player of the Year signs for the seven-time French champions, he will become the clubs first Asian recruit.

Park, who has been struggling for form this year, was omitted last week from the South Korean squad that will face North Korea on September 10 in a qualification match for the 2010 World Cup.

2 September 2008

South Korean striker Park Chu-young has joined AS Monaco on a four-year deal. The seven-time French champions have paid $3 million to K-League club FC Seoul.

The 23 year-old becomes the fourth from his nation to play in France. Park, who has scored nine goals in 27 games for the national team, had been linked with Premier League club Wigan Athletic a week earlier.

Since bursting onto the scene with an exceptional 2005 season but has since struggled to reach the same heights.

All parties are confident that he will be able to do so for the team currently sitting in tenth in Ligue 1.

Monaco chairman Jerome de Bontin said: "We had been in contact with his club for several months and we are very happy he has joined us."

The clubs Brazilian coach Ricardo knew of Park as the striker spent a year in South America as a teenager.

"He is a centre forward, very comfortable right in front of goal. He will need a little time to adapt to our league but I hope he will manage that quickly."

For his part, Park who has been keen on a move to Europe for some time, is looking forward to the new challenge.

"After the Olympic Games, I played two matches with FC Seoul and I'm ready to play. I'm proud to be here. It was not me who picked this team, but the team which chose me."

Park Chu-Young Shines On Monaco Debut

South Korean striker Park Chu-young shone on his debut for AS Monaco, scoring one and making one as his new club defeated Lorient 2-0 on Saturday.

The home fans didn抰 have long to wait to see the 23 year-old抯 trademark goal celebration of kneeling in prayer.

26 minutes in fact.

Park, who joined the seven-time French champions on the final day of the transfer window from Korean club FC Seoul for a fee of just over $3 million, ran on to a long ball out of defence.

Receiving the ball just inside Lorient's half, took the ball to the edge of the area and from there, he calmly finished past goalkeeper Fabian Audard.

It was an all-round impressive performance from the international star and he capped it off with 19 minutes remaining.

Park抯 smart pass released Frederic Nimani who then sealed the win for the hosts.

Russ Green Talks About Sarawak FC

Hartlepool United Chief Executive Russ Green has talked about the link with Malaysian side FC Sarawak.

Green told the official site that the link is good for both sides ''The benefits are there for all to see with the exchange of players being an area to explore on both sides.''

''We'll be looking for talent within the Malaysian Premier League, with the possibility of bringing over players to Hartlepool.''

''It is also in our thinking that we will look to play pre-season tournaments over there and possibly have FC Sarawak coming over to Hartlepool to play friendly games.''

Mesti perkasa
