Ben Arfa seals Toon move

Newcastle United have won the race to sign Hatem Ben Arfa, agreeing a deal with French club Marseille for a one-season loan with an option to make the transfer permanent.
"We think he will add flair to the squad and we're confident he will fit in well with the team we have put together here," Newcastle manager Chris Hughton told the club's website.
The attacking midfielder had been linked with several clubs around Europe, including Liverpool.
Promoted Newcastle said the deal for the 23-year-old former Lyon player could lead to a permanent move.
Ben Arfa, who cost Marseille 11 million euros when he signed from Lyon in 2008, has been capped eight times by France and scored in their recent friendly against Norway.

It has been confirmed today that the toon boss Chris Hughton will get Mike Ashley’s backing if cash is needed this coming January. So basicly if the toon need to strenghton the squad the toon owner will splash the cash. In the window just gone Hughton has spent around £5million on five players, they are: Dan Gosling, James Perch, Sol Campbell, Hatem Ben Arfa and Cheick Tiote. Hughton now has a very good balance of youth, experience and toon stars from last season, that should be good enough to keep us in the Premier League come this time next season.
This is what Chris Hughton told the press earlier today: “In January, we’ll re-assess what we have, and I think I’ll get the backing of the owner if we need to strengthen the team. When you look at the players we’ve signed, they have the best years in front of them. You have Dan Gosling at 20, Cheik Tiote at 24, James Perch at 24, and Hatem Ben Arfa at 23. Sol Campbell has been brought in for different reasons, but we’re looking to the future with this group.”
