'If it is not to be, obviously it is an opportunity for other players - Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent - but I would much prefer to have a fit Wayne Rooney in the starting XI.

WAYNE ROONEY was facing fresh England agony today after it emerged he may have wrecked John Terry's World Cup dream.
The Manchester United striker broke a foot in Saturday's match but his horror challenge on the Chelsea skipper has left Terry sweating on his own fitness for Germany, too.
Rooney caught Terry with a wild studs-up lunge, leaving a gash in his right ankle that needed three stitches to close.
But Chelsea's England centre-back played on because he was determined not to miss any of the match which sealed back-to-back Premiership titles.
The challenge also twisted the ankle and sparked fears of ligament damage.
Terry spent Saturday night and yesterday morning in agonising pain.
Club officials grew alarmed when Terry's ankle swelled to twice its normal size and even though he could begin to put weight on it by midday yesterday, he still needed crutches to walk.
The swelling was so severe doctors postponed until today a scan on the injury - with England coach Sven Goran Eriksson desperately hoping the results show the damage is not as bad as first thought. |
