Liverpool vs Tottenham Player Ratings

Tottenham
Carlo Cudicini - 6.5
He is probably what Tottenhan needed in goal next season - someone who won't self destruct and drag the team down.

Younes Kaboul - 6.5
Got the timing of his tackles spot on and rarely let his man past him.

Michael Dawson - 8
Assured defending at the back for Tottenham. With him and King fit and playing on a regular basis, Tottenham may just be back in the top four next season.

Ledley King - 7
Came back into the lineup after a lengthly spell out of the game and fit into the team beautifully, making Suarez look like a school boy.

Danny Rose (82' off) - 7
Used his pace well to cut out the supply to Kuyt and even tried to expose Flanagan's inexperience at the back.

Aaron Lennon - 5.5
Not the best of performances from him and he could barely get behind Johnson despite having the pace to do so.

Luka Modric - 8
Although Tottenham have a dreadful record in terms of penalty converted, his calmly taken penalty down the middle doubled Tottenham's lead in the 56th minute. This man has an eye for a killer pass and always able to find the gaps in the Liverpool defence.

Sandro - 7.5
Not the best passer of the ball but his hard tackling in midfield unsettled Liverpool and after his series of bad tackles, he finally got a yellow card for his efforts.

Steven Pienaar (90' off) - 7
Did not do much with the ball, but he would get an 11/10 for his incredible work rate.

Rafael Van der Vaart (52' off) - 7.5
Gave the visitors an early goal with a brilliant strike on the edge of the penalty area. Tried to make a similar shot a little further out but injured himself in the process.

Peter Crouch - 6.5
Had a telepathic understanding with Van der Vaart in this game, just like Tottenham's Champions League matches.

Subs
Jermain Defoe (52' on) - 6
Barely touched the ball in the time he was on and couldn't get into useful positions to be picked out by a team mate.
Sebastien Bassong (82' on)
N/A
Niko Kranjcar (90' on)
N/A

Adebayor joins Tottenham on loan
Tottenham Hotspur have sealed deal to sign unwanted Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan.

The Togolese has been shown the Eastlands door after being informed he is not in the plans of Roberto Mancini for the season.

Having impressed in a loan spell with Real Madrid last season, where he scored eight goals, the former Arsenal forward has been continually linked with a move to Spurs

Now according to The Daily Mirror, the 27-year-old has landed himself a lifeline by Harry Redknapp, who has offered him a loan deal.

Adebayor will now have a medical at the club before completing his move to White Hart Lane.

Spurs have reportedly agreed to pay a larger percentage of his £170,000-a-week wages than they were originally willing to splash out.

However, it will not be in time for him to make his Spurs debut against his parent club Manchester City on Sunday.

Adebayor: Spurs fans love me now

Emmanuel Adebayor believes he has won over the Tottenham supporters already after scoring twice on his home debut in the 4-0 win over Liverpool.

The former Arsenal striker joined the Gunners' north London rivals last month, after an unhappy spell at Manchester City, and netted away at Wolves to open his account.

Two more at White Hart Lane confirmed his threat to opposition defences, and any fears the Tottenham faithful would not take to a former Arsenal favourite have been dispelled.

"I'm very happy, very delighted," Adebayor told Sky Sports.

"It's always important to score your first goal at home.

"I have done it already away.

"I know the fans all love me because that's what they're looking for, a player who can score goals.

"I'm very happy that everything is going well for me at this club.

"Hopefully I can keep up the hard work and keep going."

Red cards for Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel left Liverpool depleted and Adebayor's two goals came with the visitors down to nine men.

"What is important is to take three points," Adebayor said.

"We did that well with lot of qualities. I'm delighted for the team."

Tottenham vs Liverpool Player Ratings
Tottenham hammered four unanswered goals past nine-man Liverpool on Sunday in the Barclays Premier League.

Tottenham
Brad Friedel - 6
Had very little to do with the Liverpool attack tamed.

Kyle Walker - 6
Had little to do with Henderson tucking in towards the middle, Walker had the license to bomb forward. Surprisingly fast for such a big guy, the youngster's runs forward looked impressive but his decision-making was not.

Younes Kaboul - 7
Hardly called upon but cut off the final ball to Suarez and Carroll with enthusiasm.

Ledley King (Off 83') - 7
Responded well when called upon, King showed no signs of his chronic injury. Kept Carroll quiet in the aerial battle.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto - 7
Hardworking when going forward to assist Bale and even more hardworking when rushing back to cover.

Gareth Bale - 8
His speed and guile was a problem for Liverpool. His bombing runs curbed Henderson's attacking instincts and his crosses were always a threat.

Luka Modric - 9
What a screamer to open the scoring. Displayed his extraordinary passing skills with his flick-ons for Bale and brough his ball-winning ability in as well.

Scott Parker - 9.5
Combative in the midfield, Parker came out tops against Adam, causing the Liverpool midfielder to be sent off with two challenges on him. Always there to let his teammates find him on the attack, Parker's simple, direct passing was the perfect foil for Modric's creative through-balls. The heart of Tottenham's game today with his dictating of the play.

Niko Kranjcar (Off 45') - 7
Managed to test Jose Enrique enough to keep the Spaniard from going forward in attack and provided a few intelligent through passes for Adebayor.

Emmanuel Adebayor - 10
His first touch was exquisite throughout the match. It's as if his boots were imbued with some kind of magical glue. Two goals on his home debut, excellent game where he was excellent going back and winning the ball in midfield too. Take a bow, son.

Jermaine Defoe ( Off 83') - 8.5
His speedy and sneaky runs in between the defence and midfield causes many headaches

Substitutes
Rafael Van der Vaart (On 45') - 7.5
Came on to pile on the misery for the Liverpool back line. Linked up with the forwards well.
Sebastian Bassong (On 83') - N/A
Giovani Dos Santos (On 83') - N/A

Liverpool
Jose Reina - 3
Uncharacteristic error by Reina gifted Tottenham their third goal.

Martin Skrtel - 2
Couldn't deal with the guile of Modric and the energy of Bale. Made a few wrong decisions that led to Bale cutting behind him, one of which led to the early goal, another that saw him get booked, and the last one that saw him get sent off.

Jamie Carragher - 4
The only person who looked up to challenging Tottenham, but was let down by his fellow Reds.

Daniel Agger (Off 26') - 6.5
He was Liverpool's most impressive performer while on the pitch, keeping Defoe from getting shots away on goal. Unfortunate to go off due to a suspected rib injury.

Jose Enrique - 5
Managed to keep Krancjar and Van der Vaart from making a bigger impact on the game. Kept his flank well, though the same cannot be said of his opposite counterpart.

Lucas Leiva - 3
His failure to impose himself throughout the game, Lucas' passing was abysmal.

Charlie Adam - 1
Outclassed by Parker, his two needless yellow cards for challenges on Parker saw his early departure from the game.

Jordan Henderson - 3.5
Tucked into the middle after Adam's sending off but his passing was woeful at best.

Stewart Downing (Off 70') - 4
Should have done better distributing the ball against the less experienced Kyle Walker but kept finding Parker instead.

Luis Suarez (Off 70') - 4.5
Cut a forlorn figure up front with the lack of passes to feed him. His frustration showed at the end of the first half when he ‘did a Rooney' and sarcastically applauded the referee, earning him a yellow card.

Andy Carroll - 1.5
Was he playing in this match?

Substitutes
Sebastian Coates (On 26') - 4
His inexperience showed when he left Defoe wide open for Spurs' second goal.
Craig Bellamy (On 70') - N/A
Jay Spearing (On 70') - N/A
