Germany biggest fan at the world cup...Angele Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel cheered Germany to World Cup victory on Monday, clapping her blazer off during the 4-0 romp over Portugal. Merkel even braved the post-game locker room to pose with sweaty semi-naked German players.
While visiting the victorious squad, Merkel also found time to pose for a selfie with German forward Lukas Podolski.

Munich - After kicking off their 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Portugal, the German national team now face a nervous wait with Mats Hummels a doubt to face Ghana on Saturday. Meanwhile, FC Bayern München defender Jerome Boateng has been cleared to feature against the Black Stars despite injuring his thumb during the victory over Cristiano Ronaldo and Co., which has left Joachim Löw’s troops at the top of Group G.
Hummels hobbling
Both players underwent an MRI scan on soon after the game, with the results confirming that Borussia Dortmund centre-back Hummels - scorer of the Nationalmannschaft’s second goal on Monday - had suffered bruising in his right thigh. It is unclear when the 25-year-old, injured having fallen awkwardly after an aerial challenge, will be able to return to full training with the DFB confirming that his involvement against Ghana would hinge on his “recovery process” over the coming days.
For Boateng the scan confirmed that he had suffered a partial tear of tendons in his right thumb during the showdown in Salvador. However, the 38-time German international has been given the green light to feature against half-brother Kevin-Prince Boateng, providing he wears a protective splint on the affected area for “up to six weeks”. With Hummels a doubt, Boateng could conceivably slot into his more natural position at centre-back against Ghana. |
