Ordination from Shingyo Pre-sectarian Buddhist Temple

Shingyo Temple believes that it is very important for our priests to assess self-ordained persons to support the persons for the attainment of the final salvation.

So, who can be ordained at Shingyo Temple? As a private religious group, Shingyo Temple ordination shall be granted all persons who satisfy the following conditions regardless of race, religion, denomination, gender, ethnic background, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

• The person must be 18 years old or older.
• The person must feel aligned with the beliefs, creeds, practices and philosophies of the Pre-sectarian Buddhism.
• The person must have determination, self-confidence, and self-reliance in the successful attainment of the final salvation. We may call a person who satisfied this condition a “self-ordained” person.
  

So, how can one be ordained at Shingyo Temple? Traditionally, in Buddhism, a person will be ordained by taking refuge for one’s faith in the Buddhist three jewels (The Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha). This is very important; however, Shingyo Pre-sectarian Buddhism thinks showing a person’s determination, confidence, and self-reliance to attain the final salvation through the Buddha’s practice is more important.

Traditional Buddhist ordinations are granted with the special rituals or ceremonies while Shingyo Temple will not offer such ritual or ceremony. This is because we think an ordination is a highly private matter. Persons who are ordained by Shingyo Temple have already performed ceremonies in their own ways when they did self-ordinations.

You can be ordained through our online ordination program (Shingyo Temple Online Program for Ordination). You do not need to register for the program since it is open for anybody.  The program is offered for free.  Needless to say, our ordination is completely legal and legitimate. The temple warden office will maintain your ordination record and the office will be able to issue you a certificate of ordination or a letter of good standing upon your request.
