Pre-sectarian Buddhism is the original teachings and practice of the Buddha. It is the root of all schools of Buddhism. Unfortunately, approximately 100 years after the Buddha’s death, the pre-sectarian Buddhism was forgotten and it was divided into Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.
The pre-sectarian Buddhism is not a simple religion but the practical guideline that the Buddha developed and used to attain the final salvation in everyday life. The guideline will be applied for any aspect of your everyday life in order to let you attain not only spiritual advancement but also the final salvation. Due to such flexibility and applicability, some may call the pre-sectarian Buddhism the life philosophy or the Buddha’s philosophy. |
