The men's professional volleyball Korea Electric Power Corporation won its last home game of the season and achieved a successful conclusion.

KEPCO beat Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance 3-1 (26-24 25-18 23-25 25-18) in the 2023-2024 V-League men's home game held at Suwon Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province on the 13th.

However, winning or losing did not mean much because both fifth-ranked Korea Electric Power Corporation (50 points, 17 wins and 18 losses) and sixth-ranked Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (48 points, 18 wins and 17 losses) were confirmed to be eliminated from the postseason.

The semi-playoff will take place only when the difference between the third and fourth places in the regular league is less than 3, and the two teams will not be able to catch up with the third-place OK Financial Group (57 points, 20-15 losses) even if they win the remaining games, so they will promise next season.

The two teams went on the court without any motivation, but KEPCO, which tried to comfort the fans who came to watch the last home game, cheered up.

Lim Sung-jin of KEPCO scored 26 points, his personal best this season, with Tice scoring 20 points and Shin Young-seok scoring 13 points.

Two teams that couldn't overcome their thin players... Spring volleyball will be played next year

The two teams were disappointed because they were most likely to advance to spring volleyball not too long ago. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, which had been competing for the top spot earlier this season, remained in third place until the fourth round, and Korea Electric Power Corp. also finished the fifth round in third place.

However, the team failed to overcome its crisis of the last six rounds. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance had one win and three losses, and Korea Electric Power Corp. was mired in four consecutive losses before finally escaping with the victory.

The biggest reason is the thinning of players. There was no player who could make up for a hole when a flagship player was sluggish or injured. On the other hand, top-ranked teams had more key players in the warm-up zone, maintaining steady performance.

In the end, KEPCO and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance were pushed out of the fierce competition for spring volleyball as they revealed their limitations at the last minute.

Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance manager Kim Sang-woo said, "We had no choice but to lack the back," and looked back on this season, saying, "It was not easy to endure until the end of the player base and height, but what we trained at the beginning of the season came out well."

Kwon Young-min, head coach of Korea Electric Power Corporation, also analyzed the reason for the elimination, saying, "There is something that warm-up zone players can do as a substitute," adding, "The game went in a bad direction because the offense fell from the sixth round."

Although they were not invited to the spring volleyball tournament, the two teams, which heated up the ranking competition, promised next season.  스포츠토토
