Hemenway to sing opening theme for anime, ‘Duel Masters Victory V3′
Hemenway’s new song, “Start Kakumei“, has been chosen as the opening theme for TV Tokyo’s anime, ‘Duel Masters Victory V3‘, which starts on April 6th.
The ‘Duel Masters’ series is based on the popular trading card game, and the original manga is written by Matsumoto Shigenobu. Since 2002, the anime has continued by changing the series, but this April, the anime will start a brand new series called ‘Victory V3′.
Regarding the song, Hemenway’s Isaac (Vo, G) commented, “Anime is one of the big reasons why we became attracted to Japan and especially music. We made this song because we wanted to express our determination through music in Japan.”
In January of this year, Hemenway launched a 10-month consecutive single release project. On April 24th, they will release the 4th single, “Hana Furu Yoru“. Details on the release of “Start Kakumei” will be announced soon.

KAT-TUN to release new single “FACE to Face” in May
KAT-TUN will be releasing their new single titled “FACE to Face” on May 15!
The title track is the theme song for member Kamenashi Kazuya’s starring movie “Ore Ore (It’s me, It’s me)” which is scheduled to open in theaters on May 25. This will mark the first time for the group to sing the theme song for a movie.
The single will be released with three different types; limited edition, first pressed regular edition, and regular edition. Both limited and first pressed regular editions will come with a DVD, and the first pressed regular edition will include a coupling track titled “FLASH“, a solo song by Taguchi Junnosuke.
The regular edition will only have a CD, and one of the coupling tracks will be “DRAMATIC” which is the image song for NTV’s live coverage of professional baseball game ‘Dramatic Game 1844′, and is also used as the theme song for NTV’s ‘Going! Sports&News’.

Versailles members create new band, ‘Jupiter’
Versailles members HIZAKI (G), TERU (G), MASASHI (B), and YUKI (Dr) have welcomed a new vocalist ZIN to the ranks and they’ve created a new band called Jupiter.
This summer, Jupiter will release their debut single, “Blessing of the Future“, under Universal International’s rock label Thunderball667. The band plans to release songs and hold lives taking into consideration of activities across the world.
In related news, Versailles member KAMIJO (Vo) is currently recording for his solo debut this summer.

Fairies’ new song chosen as the theme song for anime “Jewelpet Happiness”
It was announced that dance and vocal group Fairies would sing the theme song for TV Tokyo anime “Jewelpet Happiness.” The theme song is titled “Hikari no Hate ni“, and this will be the first time for the group to sing for an anime.
On April 2, together with the Jewelpet characters, Fairies attended the press conference for the anime held at Sanrio Puroland, in Tama city, Tokyo where they performed the new song for the first time. Member Ito Momoka commented, “I’m honored to be able to perform at Sanrio Puroland where I’ve been visited many times.” Regarding the theme song, she said, “Our song is bracing just like the anime, and the choreography to the song is cute which people can emulate!”
“Jewelpet Happiness” will start airing on April 6, and Fairies’ new song “Hikari no Hate ni” is planned for release in early summer of this year.

Hi-Fi CAMP to release their last album in May
4-member group Hi-Fi CAMP, who will be disbanding in June, have announced that they will be releasing their last album, “LIFE GOES ON“, on May 22.
The album will be a compilation of the group’s 5 years, containing a total of 11 songs such as “1.2.3STEP“, which is being used as the theme song for TBS‘ sports news program, ‘S☆1‘, and JRA Fukushima Keibajou’s CM song, “Yume Yori mo Daiji na Koto“.
The Premium Edition will come with a DVD including a digest footage of the Shibuya O-EAST concert on August 10 of their nationwide tour, ‘Kekka, Hamemajishite Ikimasuka…!‘. It will also enclose a post card set. The pre-order and purchase of this version will be only available through a special website or at tour venues.
Hi-Fi CAMP will kick off their nationwide live house tour on May 3 in Sendai. They will disband after their concert at Sendai darwin on June 4, which is the also the day of the group’s 5th anniversary since their debut.

Details on SEKAI NO OWARI’s new single revealed
The details on SEKAI NO OWARI’s new single, “RPG“, have been revealed.
The title track was written as the theme song for upcoming anime movie, ‘Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Baka Uma! B-kyu Gourmet Survival!!‘, scheduled to open in theaters in April 20th. For its coupling track, the single will include “Earth Child” as well as “Starlight Parade” -CAN’T SLEEP FANTASY NIGHT Version-“, which was used as the theme song for movie, ‘Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu‘.
“RPG” will be released on May 1st in 3 different types: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, and Regular Edition. Limited Edition A will come with a CD containing live audio from the band’s concert on January 14th at Osaka-jo Hall. Meanwhile, Limited Edition B will come with a DVD with a live footage for “RPG” and off-shot footage for “Earth Child”.
Furthermore, the First Press Regular Edition will enclose a scratch card that could be the winning ticket for a “mysterious DVD”.

MEG to release new singles under 2 names
It’s been revealed that MEG will be releasing new singles (currently untitled) under the 2 names ‘MEG‘ and ‘MEG ZOMBIE‘ on June 5th.
This was announced through MEG’s official website, Twitter, as well as the label’s website. On March 29th, MEG’s picture disappeared from her official website and other web contents, and was replaced with a mysterious footprint. Now, we can see a picture of MEG transformed into a zombie.
Details on MEG’s new singles have not been revealed at this time. Aside releases under ‘MEG” and ‘MEG ZOMBIE’, there will also be a release under ‘MEG＋MEG ZOMBIES‘, which will include both of the songs.

‘TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2013′ to be held in July at Odaiba
Japan’s biggest idol festival, ‘TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2013‘, will be held on July 27th and 28th at Odaiba, Tokyo.
This year will mark the 4th year of ‘TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL’, and like last year, idols will be performing at Zepp Tokyo and other special stages in Odaiba. 7 idol groups have already been decided to perform this year. They are Idoling!!!, AeLL., Sakura Gakuin, THE POSSIBLE, TOKYO GIRLS’ STYLE, Negicco, and Vanilla Beans.

EXILE’s HIRO to retire from being a performer
EXILE leader HIRO has announced that he will retire from being a performer this year. While he’s still a part of EXILE, he plans to concentrate on his work as LDH’s CEO and producer.
HIRO, who has been a performer for 24 years, will be turning 44 years old this June. In his comment to media outlets, he reported, “I’m sorry this is a personal matter, but as of 2013, I have decided to put an end to my career as an EXILE performer, and take a step forward to a new stage in making EXILE’s future.”
He continued, “However, at the same time, I feel this is a new start for EXILE’s chapter 4. As the entire EXILE family share their dreams, inherit pride and ambition, and as new blood from the younger generation join in, the capacity of our entertainment will expand…”
HIRO debuted in 1989 as a member of ZOO, and later in 1999, he created J Soul Brothers and became the leader of the group. J Soul Brothers changed their name to EXILE in August of 2001, and they’ve been releasing hit songs one after another ever since.
HIRO has been serving as the CEO for LDH since 2003. Currently, EXILE, Sandaime J Soul Brothers, GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE, E-girls, DEEP, Sada Mayumi, Iwahori Seri, Hasegawa Jun, RIKACO, and others belong to LDH.

Sakai Masato & Kanno Miho register their marriage
Actor Sakai Masato (39) and actress Kanno Miho (35) registered their marriage on April 2, which was an auspicious day according to the Buddhist calendar. The couple was present at a ward office in Tokyo to complete their marriage registration. Currently, they live together and are said to be looking for a new home. Their ceremony and reception dates have yet to be set.
Through their agency, the couple commented, “We – Sakai Masato and Kanno Miho – are reporting through this that we made an entry in our family register on April 2. From here on out, both of us will face with every single work sincerely while supporting each other as husband and wife. Thank you for your continuous support.”
After co-starring in the film “Ooku~ Eien~ [Emonnosuke・Tsukayoshi Hen]” (The Castle of Crossed Destinies) last December, Sakai and Kanno grew closer and with Sakai’s strong approach, they began dating seriously after the film was released.

℃-ute to hold their 1st live concert at Nippon Budokan + live event in Paris
On April 3, idol group ℃-ute held a release event for their latest single “Crazy Kanzen na Otona” which was released on the same day.
At the end of the event, there was a voice message from the producer Tsunku♂ where he made an important announcement stating they would hold their first live concert at Nippon Budokan on September 10 titled “℃-ute day.” When he made the announcement, the girls jumped up in joy.
When asked what they would want to do for the Budokan concert, member Yajima Maimi said, “Flying! I want to try it“, while Okai Chisato said, “I want to make the concert that even fans in the back seats can enjoy.” Okai also declared, “I will lose 8 kg by the Budokan live.”
It was also announced that they will hold a live event “℃-ute Cutie Circuit ～Voyage a Paris～” at La Cigale in Paris, France on July 5. This will mark their first solo event overseas.

YUI to resume her musical activities as a part of band “FLOWER FLOWER”
It was revealed that singer-songwriter YUI, who halted her musical activities at the end of last year, will resume her activities as part of rock band “FLOWER FLOWER.”
The band will perform at live event “JAPAN JAM 2013” which will be held at Shinkiba STUDIO COAST on May 4th.
FLOWER FLOWER is the band formed by YUI herself after she called to her the musicians she respected, and she serves as the vocalist and guitarist of the band with the name of “yui” with her completely new look of short blond hair. Apparently, the band started a studio session at the beginning of this year, and also held secret live performances at several locations across Japan since last month.
yui said, “I thought that I would be able to purely enjoy music by creating sound with these members. New flashes and the possibility in music are naturally expanding from each member’s idea and performance.” She also explained regarding the name of the band, “I wanted to give it an unaffected and natural name. There may be so many cool names, but I dared to make it a name that sounds relaxing, and can stay in your head. I hope we can express our powerful and interesting ideas freely.”
After their first appearance at “JAPAN JAM 2013″, FLOWER FLOWER will also perform at “TOKYO METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL 2013” which will be held at Wakasu Park in Shinkiba, Tokyo on May 26th.
Additionally, they also launched their official site on April 3rd, but it’s currently undecided if the band will release any work at this moment.

Perfume to appear in their first music festival overseas
It’s been revealed that Perfume, Osawa Shinichi, and ☆Taku Takahashi (m-flo) will be appearing in ‘ULTRA KOREA (ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL) 2013‘, which will be held on June 14th and 15th at Seoul Olympic Stadium in Korea.
‘ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL’ is an outdoors electronic music festival that started in Miami back in 1999. In the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA), it has won the best music event award for 6 consecutive years. For the event, the entire city of Miami is turned into the venue for a period of 2 weeks. Since this year marked the 15th anniversary of the event, a record of over 300,000 people were in attendance. Aside Miami, the event was also held in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Ibiza, and South Korea.
‘ULTRA KOREA (ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL) 2013′ will feature world-known artists such as AFROJACK, Armin van Buuren, AVICII, Carl Cox, KASKADE, Tommy Trash, and Boy George. Perfume and Osawa Shinichi will perform on the 14th, while ☆Taku Takahashi will perform on the 15th.

The Gospellers’ Kurosawa Kaoru to release his first solo album in 8 years
The Gospellers‘ Kurosawa Kaoru will be releasing his first solo album in 8 years, “LOVE LIFE“, on June 5th.
Kurosawa debuted as a solo singer back in 2005 with the mini-album, “Love Anthem“. His upcoming 2nd album will strongly reflect his roots, soul music, and it will feature a rich variety of songs. More details will be announced later.
In addition, The Gospellers’ and TRY-TONE’s event, ‘WAVOC presents Tohoku Earthquake Volunteer Support A capella Concert‘, will be held again this year. This time, the participating groups will be decided by audition. The deadline to register for the audition is April 7th.

Amuse artists to hold an open-air live event in July
To celebrate their 35th anniversary, entertainment production company Amuse will be holding an open-air live event called ‘Amuse 35th Anniversary BBQ in Tsumagoi Bokura no Beat wo Kurae Kora!~‘ in July at Tsumagoi, Shizuoka. Popular artists such as Porno Graffitti, Perfume, FLOW, and flumpool will come together for the celebration.
Every year, Amuse holds a BBQ party hosted by Porno Graffitti. Since they will be celebrating a turning point this year, it will be held as a big open-air event. The event’s title was suggested by Porno Graffitti’s Shindo Haruichi, who came up with the analogy for BBQ, “(B) Bokura no (B) Beat wo (Q) Kurae Kora!”.
Regarding the event, Porno Graffitti’s Okano Akihito commented, “There are many wonderful musicians, so I hope to celebrate the 35 years with everyone grandly.” Shindo added, “The forest in Tsumagoi really matches music, so I want to enjoy it together with everybody!”
Rock band FLOW also expressed, “Since we will be able to do it together with our ’senpai’ and ‘kohai’ who cherish lives, we feel that our stage will also be exciting, so we are looking forward to it.”
Finally, the ladies of Perfume said, “It’s hosted every year by our ‘dai-senpai’ Porno Graffitti. BBQing with our ’senpai’ and friends of the same generation whom we love, our relationship has gradually gotten stronger.”
The event will be held on July 13th and 14th. Additional artists include ONE OK ROCK, NICO Touches the Walls, WEAVER, and Takahashi Yu.

Maestro Ozawa says he wants teach next generation of musicians

TOKYO —
Acclaimed Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa said Wednesday he wants to use the time he “has been given by God” after surviving cancer to teach the next generation of musicians.
The 77-year-old, who underwent surgery for cancer of the oesophagus in 2010 and was treated for a hernia in 2011, said he will invite 24 of Asia’s most talented young string players to attend his chamber music academy in Japan.
Ahead of his full-scale comeback planned in August, he will conduct Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings” in July during concerts that will mark the end of the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy Okushiga, Asia.
“I have been lucky. It was a serious illness,” Ozawa told a Tokyo press conference. “I think the time I have has been given by God, so I am making good use of it.”
Ozawa, who has been away from the podium for a year during his battle back to health, has worked with young musicians in Switzerland and Japan while leading the Ozawa Ongaku-juku music academies for symphony and opera.
“I am gradually coming back to my main job of conducting after my illness,” he told reporters. “But I have no interest in cutting back on my teaching.”
Ozawa’s first full-scale engagement since January last year will be Maurice Ravel’s opera “The Child and the Spells” in August at the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto in Japan.
In a career that has spanned the globe, Ozawa spent nearly three decades at the Boston Symphony Orchestra before moving to Austria in 2002 to become musical director for the Vienna State Opera.
He has collaborated with luminaries of the music world including Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein.
The concerts by the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy—in which young talent from Japan, Singapore, China and Taiwan will play under his baton—will take place in the central prefecture of Nagano on July 28 and 29 and in Tokyo on July 31.
